@nannygladys if you make anything from either fabric stash or repurposed clothes you already have or bought as second hand it is coupon free. The only time you would spend coupons is if you bought new fabric. I am not certain but I think trimmings are also coupon free and this would include buttons etc. Pip will correct me if I am wrong on this7

You can crochet over the thread of the yarn that you aren’t using. It may be worth practicing with some scrap yarn.
What is the pattern, @CAFCGirl?
- PipCherryfudge said:@CAFCGirl, is it worth trying E bay or similar for yarn? I know it's a bit of a long shot for those quantities but if second hand, it would be coupon-free.
Yes I had it in my head that going over the thread was possible but I'll start with some video tutorials I think, and then try on some scraps as you've suggested.
This is the pattern.

It might be @Cherryfudge but I think quantity will be hard, but colour possibly even harder.
I've decided I don't want it in black as per the pattern but I was thinking a very deep blue or purple.Wealth is not measured by currency5 -
Goodness gracious me, 2 days of 2022 passed already, time I signed up for this year.
I used the services of that guy on the market to excess last year (2nd stinker of a year running) I have been pretty down after two family bereavements and all the Covid restrictions so stopped keeping track, but must have been in the region 25-30 points - a 2 "big buys" were a thick warm, waterproof coat knee length + and a smart wool winter coat (courtesy of Crew & Company sales), I had been looking for 2/3 years in the CS.
I need to do a clothes audit when I feel better, but I am planning on having another tunic made in Rowan Felted Tweed DK, I already have 1 in the pipeline from points spent last year. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)6 -
@Laura_Elsewhere ooohhh it sounds very pretty. I would love to see a picture of it when you finish it.I don’t know what material to use but you have given me some ideas.6

@CAFCGirl, the pattern looks great. I think, personally, I would use 2 balls of the contrast colour for the points of the crescents, i.e. 1 small and the other the full ball and join up when they meet at the centre area, then you would have a neater reverse side iyswim. I think purple would be fantastic. Would you use a silvery white for the phases?2025 Fashion on the ration

Liverpool_Anne -thanks for that.
I have had a quick look through my summer clothes and I will need a couple of loose tops, I have patterns so I need to start looking out in cs to find some material. The other item which is more imminent are a pair of decent jeans, not sure what to do, but as I'm not spending in January I will have a look around in a couple of weeks.

Hello all, would anyone mind me taking a seat and joining you? Lovely cat you have here...
I'd love to join in the challenge - mostly for environmental reasons and because I feel like I have too much stuff! Last year, I did a bit clothing audit and I'm really happy with my wardrobe as it is - now I need to not fill it back up! I also have a lot of crafting materials (particularly yarn) that I inherited/stocked up that I want to make a dent in. It's all manageable, but unless I make a start, it's not going to get any smaller! It's reasonably likely that we could end up moving in the summer, so I want to reduce the amount I own for that, as well as my own satisfaction. Currently working on a pair of fingerless mittens that were meant to be a Christmas present... Oops.My current plan is to include second-hand buys, just to help me get a sense of how much I actually buy. That Vinted market is very easy to just get caught up in. But I also reserve the right to change my mind if I'm running out of coupons later this year!I did buy a pair of sandals there already so I'm already down a few coupons... I do also intend to potentially buy another pair. I have quite sensitive and wide feet, so I pretty much only buy Clarks, but I also wear shoes down really fast. Suspect that now is the cheapest time to buy them!5 -
I have spends to declare but also a Mend It Monday
1 pair of pyjama bottoms (4 coupons), 1 scarf (2 coupons) and one new leather handbag (5 coupons).I have also reattached pom-poms to a scarf and sewn up a dropped hem.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I've decided I don't want it in black as per the pattern but I was thinking a very deep blue or purple.
However, if you aren't doing black, I think you're going to have to do what I did with The Jumper: work out weight and length of yarn required then start trawling the net. I think one of the colours you prefer would be great.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I was thinking of a very light grey, I'm still deciding on if I'll go purple or a midnight kind of blue....then again I could always do one and if I enjoy it do another and have one for wearing and one for adorning the foot of the bed.Wealth is not measured by currency5
