I like the current patterns but they are not for me, I will try to keep an eye out for patterns that are more me.Elisheba said:Thanks @CAFCGirl for the Jambats link. The current patterns aren't for me, but I would love a pair of dungarees so I'm looking forward to seeing what new styles they release

I can never get past the shivery feeling of chilliness when I look at dungarees, because of having to undo the top half to nip to the loo - I remember having to wriggle out of jumpers worn over dungarees in the 80s, trying to keep the jumper-body over at least my shoulders while I negotiated the dungaree-straps!
I have finally finished knitting my Peatigan, the cardigan striped in three greys and lots of red-orange-chestnut flame colours, and I think I am more pleased with it than anything I've knitted in a long time...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Hi @CAFCGirlCAFCGirl said:Hello to all,
I really must look into if one can change their name on the forums without having to start a whole new account.
ANYHOO,
A coupon spend OH MY! 12 big ones too.
Dungarees, boilersuits and jumpsuits have become my latest hyperfixation and I now have 14 pairs - HOWEVER I have only purchased two from new. All the rest have come from secondhand resale from ebay and a preloved group i'm a part of.
These two arrived yesterday and I am besotted with the patterns.
I've linked them here. Extravagant money wise I concede. I do adore them though...

I shall update my signature accordingly now.
Those dungarees are cute! No wonder you are besotted.

CAFC - Those dugarees look fun - enjoy them.Laura - That made me chuckle. I have some nice thick cord dungarees for winter and have found the solution is to wear the dungarees over a jumper. Why it took me so long to think of this I have no idea.

Can I ask how often would you wash a pure wool jumper? I always wear mine over a tee shirt so if it doesn't look dirty or smell how many wears is too many?4

If it's pure wool and not in contact with your body, then it actually doesn't *need* washing at all... if it goes a bit baggy at the elbows or the cuffs go saggy then lay it out flat on an ironing board with a damp clean tea-towel over it and use the steam setting on the iron to steam the wool back into shape - just sort of push and move the jumper to the shape you want, and then steam it and let it cool before moving it and doing another area.Nonnadiluca said:Can I ask how often would you wash a pure wool jumper? I have just washed the Peatigan after finishing knitting it, and I now don't intend to wash it again til spring and possibly not then. I'll hang it up to air when I take it off, and if I've got hot wearing it then I'll hang it up inside-out to air. If needs be, I can lightly mist the underarms on the inside with some neat vodka
And I'll steam-block the ribbed cuffs and waist every now and again to keep them snug.

Err…. When I spill something on it.Nonnadiluca said:Can I ask how often would you wash a pure wool jumper? I always wear mine over a tee shirt so if it doesn't look dirty or smell how many wears is too many?
Seriously, though, if it is one of my fitted, 1940’s jumpers designed to be worn under a suit jacket, I will wash that after each wear (N.B. I only wear a bra underneath). Otherwise I only wash my jumpers when absolutely necessary.
My hand knitted socks get washed after every wear.

Thanks Laura, I thought that might be the case but we're so conditioned to bung stuff in the wash after one or two wears, and if we don't then we're dirty slatterns! I shall embrace my slatterness and our lovely wool jumpers will be keeping us warm for a long time to come.5
