  • Ouch Pip, that sounds painful - and obviously it happened in front of everyone, to add insult to injury!  Hope the bruises aren't too bad.

Interesting to hear about wool pillows etc. For a long time I have been getting FB adverts for wool filled duvets. I am in no need of one presently as my awful old nylon stuffed duvet just keeps going and going, but I did think I might prefer wool to feather down when it is time for a replacement.

Oh also just to check - have been given a gift of socks for my birthday. As they are a gift I presume I wouldn't be using any of my ration points?

Also, do people count charity shops towards their ration? I'm pretty sure I remember reading about jumble sales in the war, but can't remember if coupons were needed at them.

Oh dear, @PipneyJane I hope your bruises heal quickly. Get the arnica cream out. It does shake you up a bit though. Be kind to yourself.

I have a silk duvet too, and would happily recommend one.  I've had it at least ten years now.
I also have one, but alas I only bought a double duvet size for me, so it is not on our king size bed.
