@TwibbleDee - hope you get a cool spell soon. The UK has finally swapped from winter to summer but our houses aren’t built to deal with the extremes of either.
Rough rule of thumb re translating temperatures: 100F equals 39.5ish Celsius. Each 10 degrees Fahrenheit roughly equates to 5 degrees Celsius, so you can work up or down from there.
@Wraithlady, I play RPG’s. I’ve never LARP-ed but it looks like fun. I’ve witnessed a few at conventions. (To everyone else, Live Action Role Playing is a bit like play acting but only one person - the GM - has the script. Everyone else is playing a character and participating as if it’s really happening.)
ETA sorry about the dress but better than buyer’s remorse.

😍 today my Mum presented me with a cardigan she had knitted me, this has made me so happy, many years ago she made it clear she was going not knit clothes for adults except herself. I had admired a cardigan she had designed and knitted for one of the grandchildren and said how I wish I had one, a few weeks later GC was wearing it and I mentioned again how fantastic it was and how I would love my own, she asked if I was serious, which I was, that was the last I heard of it until today. It is fantastic and made with so much love, mine isn't identical to GC but has been inspired by theirs, both have hoods and toggles.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

The cardigan from your Mum sounds absolutely lovely, you lucky thing! I have a hooded cardigan that I wear a lot and it's an old friend. Extra nice when yours is made specially for you by your Mum.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@PipneyJane and others, my rough-and-ready conversion for C to F is always ‘double it and add 30’. So eg 16 deg C would be approx 62 deg F. It’s slightly less accurate than Pip’s method, I just find it easier to work out.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.5

Very lovely of her, and very nice (for me, as a knitter) to read how pleased you are with her work!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@Baileys_Babe I must admit to a tiny bit of envy re your cardi. My mum crocheted me, when I was 7 or 8, the most wonderfully warm, snuggly cardi out of end of line balls of wool (she worked in a wool shop for a while). I was less than impressed when I outgrew it and it was passed on to my younger cousins. Not that I’m still slightly grumpy about this 35/36 years later…….😉✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@Baileys_Babe how wonderful that your mum has spent all that time making your cardigan! In my mind, time is worth far more than the cost of the yarn.
I'm sure it will be a treasured item for many many years. 😊2025 Fashion on the ration

The time, though, is going to be far more. Minimum Wage for an adult is currently £9.50, so that would cover just over six hours of basic unskilled work.
Time to knit a cardigan? Oooh, call it 60 hours, and that's cutting it very fine imo, for my large size.
So that's either a quid per hour to equal the wool-cost, or else the time is going to cost about £360, and that's only charging the basic minimum...
See why "knitworthy" is a term known to knitters!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
