Hi all, no spends to declare, been a bit hectic. OH nephew landed on us. He lives in Germany and works on the rigs in the north sea. He tested positive and he was helicoptered to Aberdeen and then put in a covid taxi, who knew they even existed, down to Liverpool. He is staying in OHs house which we are in the process of decorating so at half a days notice we had to make the place habitable. It's not derelict or anything, just full of furniture in the wrong place, wardrobes on the landing etc, ladders, pots of paint etc. Anyhow a bedroom was sorted, clean sheets and towels sorted, vacuumed through, food put in the fridge etc before he arrived and so far 2 top up shops done and delivered. He has all he needs, even a tv but I think he's missing the internet and isn't so ill so he's a bit bored. So far he has cut the lawn and put the new shredder together. We have told him to just rest but he's used to being active so we will just keep saying thank you and dropping off more food
@PipneyJane, yes I was lucky enough to get a ticket in the ballot for Wembley and like you I was up in the gods, though at the other end of the ground. My seat at Anfield is 3 rows from the pitch so it is a very different way of watching the game when you are that far away, it is indeed a good way to see the tactics and game plans but if I am honest I prefer to be closer to the action.I did think about messaging you but as you had said your OH didn't like going to finals with chelsea I thought you would not be going. I went down with my cousin and his wife, we stayed at a travel place in Borehamwood on Friday night and got the bus to Stanmore underground and so straight to Wembley. A very easy journey so we were at Wembley by 10.45. We had a good wander around and my cousin and his wife had a drink in the fanzone, I was driving so nothing except coffee and water for me, but it was far too hot so we headed for some shade until we saw the team bus arrive then headed into the ground. While we were hanging around we saw Lee Dixon arrive on the back of a motorbike. He was very nice and had a quick chat with us, much to my surprise, unlike Gary Linaker and Ian Wright who we also saw but they just blanked everyone
. I was hoping for a ticket for the cl final but no luck in that ballot. I was planning a short break in Paris staying with my friend but it's not to be this time. I am consoling myself with the fact I have been lucky enough to have been to 5 cl finals, and hoping it won't be the last chance I get
If we get the chance in the future I would love to meet up Pip.
Sorry I have completely gone off topic so will finish now
Take care everyone9 -

Thanks @skogar. I’ve not heard anything but just doing something has made me feel better.

A Chelsea supporting friend came with me to the match, instead of DH. I’m glad you had a good day. Fingers crossed for Liverpool in the Champions League final. We will be watching. Pity about you not getting tickets in the ballot. Hopefully you’ll get to Paris later in the year. (DH’s boss went to last year’s - in the posh seats - and gave me a Chelsea goody bag from it.)

If nos then it probably itsn't.
It tickled me about the 'real life not fantasy life' - I know what you mean, and it's a valid point, but I do Live Action Roleplaying and am a goth, so my 'non-real' life has more and better clothes than my mundane life!

@Wraithlady, you're a goth? From the name I never would have guessed...
I was never a goth as such but joyfully adopted the style for clothing for years and years because I could hide safely in all that black, with my hair for bright colours
Now I have naturally brown-grey hair and cheerfully wear lots of bright colours sometimes and soft muted colours other times, but I'll always have a soft spot for gothdom as a welcoming "broad church" for all those years hiding the frightened little mouse...!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I’m working this year on purging many of my “fantasy life” clothes. I think I’m going to keep rotating through my sleeveless Wool& dresses as my staples, even in winter.I about passed out at the idea of black velvet as something to wear year-round. It’s already hit 108F this year! (And, that, of course, was when our AC decided to forget how to cool - thank heavens we have an air-conditioned pull-behind camper sitting outside our house!).
Cool front the next few days - our high today is 84F, and tomorrow’s is only 68F!2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.3 -
Interestingly, this ties in with the ‘Marie Kondo’ idea; she says that we have things (not just clothes) that relate to a person we thought we might be - hobby stuff that we no longer use, sports gear for something we never took up or aren’t likely to do again, books … I found it quite a helpful concept, as I recognised that twenty years ago I thought I’d be living a different sort of life to the (just as good, if not better) one I live now.Lockdown made me realise that not only do I not need many dressing-up clothes, I actually don’t like getting dressed up much. I’m unlikely ever to go to a black-tie event again. I kept one ‘posh frock’ and sold the rest. When I moved I gave away the corporate suits I’d hung on to - never going to need them again.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.3

I had to look up 108F, @TwibbleDee - not only because the UK uses in Celcius but because it's so bloomin' hot! I hope the cold front makes life easier.
My day spent clothes shopping in the city during the week, and the summer edition of Sewing Bee which I've just watched, have reignited my clothes awareness so I may be headed back to a fantasy wardrobe if I'm not careful. Not the imaginary one, which comes free of course, but the lovely dresses that just don't fit the lifestyle I'm happy with. I say 'shurring' not 'sheering', by the way. Is it one of those things like the pronunciation of 'scones' or 'Shrewsbury', that everyone seems to hold deep convictions on?
Today I bought about 300g of yarn from a car boot sale, so no coupons but some lovely colours. I will be borrowing @PipneyJane's signature if I don't rein myself in.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

@skogar - very good question! Probably the former, as it takes you 'out of yourself' and is a great deal of fun with like-minded loonies!
I went back and had another look at the dress - I'm not sure it's really me, after all, it has a peter pan collar and I really don't like those. So, my purse is firmly put away.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used
