Today’s quote:
“Fall down seven times, stand up eight”
Moneysaving/ household saving ( or not due to the car):
- The car has gone wrong yet again. On Thursday it went into the garage because the hill start assist light kept coming on after they had changed the clutch, however the car was driving ok ( it originally went into the garage as it kept slowing even though you had your foot on the accelerator and they said it was the clutch). The garage found nothing wrong with the car on Thursday and they said they had turned the ‘hill side’ assist off and the manager said he would try and make enquiries to find out what the fault was and get back to us….but for now he said they had checked over the car and it was absolutely fine to drive …… (i felt we were being fobbed off). My husband was driving last night and yet again it started slowing down when you had your foot on the accelerator and the ‘service’ light came on again (even though it only recently had a service)……this is exactly what it was doing before the clutch was changed which is why we took it to the garage in the first place. The car is still under warranty so my dh is going to book an appointment this time with the proper Ford garage on Monday ( where we got the car from) and pray whatever is wrong with it is covered under the warranty. At the back of my mind i keep thinking that maybe it wasn’t actually the clutch at fault in the first place and the first garage changed the wrong part?…..after all we were very surprised that the clutch had gone on a four year old car with only 44,000 on the clock - but there is nothing we can do about it but pray we don’t have to spend much on top of the £550 we have already paid for the clutch.
- Before the car went wrong again, I had cancelled our tesco delivery for this morning as i was going to go shopping in the store using our ‘love to shop’ voucher ( that cant be used on-line), but we have been very lucky and managed to get a delivery tomorrow evening instead, so at least we will still have food.
- On a brighter note, today it is my dd1’s partner’s birthday and we are taking them out for Sunday lunch together with my dd2’s boyfriend (it will feel weird that my dd2 won’t be there as she is away at university)…..i have looked at the menu and know what i am eating so it wont ruin my diet, so this is a positive step in the right direction. We are paying for the meal using tesco vouchers that we have saved up, so all we have to pay for is drinks which is great👏👏👏
Wellbeing:
- So i have been doing my healthy eating for a week now so i weighed myself…..drum roll please… i have lost an amazing five pounds this week…..i know most of this is water on my first week and from now on i will only lose approximately one pound a week, but it is a great start and I’m really pleased.
- I saw the above opening quote (a Japanese proverb) on a Facebook page i follow and on @beanielou ‘s signature too….. I have certainly failed so many times on my diet, but then it got me thinking…..may be this is my ‘number eight’ time to ‘stand up’ and just may be my diet may work this time? I keep telling myself “I CAN DO THIS”, I am in a better place mentally so “i CAN do this”.
Anyway, that’s it for now

Well done on the weight loss, that's fantastic.
Your flowers are lovely, i bet your step mother would have been very proud you made the effort.
As for your narcissist father, what ever you do or don't do will cause a problem, can't do wrong for doing right and all that. I sent a message to a friend a few weeks ago, they rang me..... I rang them back to see how they are doing and aIl I got was a 'why are you ringing me', sadly you can't win / or help some. I gave up trying to understand some years ago, you have more than done your best. XMFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

Today’s quote:
“Having a rough day? Place you hand over your heart…..feel that?…..it’s called purpose. You are alive for a reason. Don’t give up”.
Money / household savings:
- Our Tesco delivery is due later today. I was very careful to only buy what we need with no treats.
- I routed around my freezer today and found i have some frozen fish fillets that need to be used up….i will make a parsley sauce to have with them (I still have some home grown parsley in my freezer). I will microwave the fish and do a load of veg in my electric steamer for over all cheapness.
- My dh rang the Ford garage today and unfortunately the earliest we could book the car in is two weeks today 😱😱😱…..i really hope they can actually fix it, especially as the other garage just didn’t know what was wrong with it. On the bright side, we wont be using any petrol over the next two weeks.
Allotment:
- This morning at my allotment I fixed my boundary fence that unfortunately was extremely wobbly due to the high winds we had last week and over the weekend. I used some old fence posts, digging a hole two feet down and then hammering the posts another foot deep…..i then screwed the fence to the new posts. I also put some wooden supports on the other side of the fence to make doubly sure the fence was now supported. Hopefully it will now stand up to any more wind that comes our way.
- I noticed today my ‘forget me not’ garden at my allotment has snow drops flowering in it, together with the hellebores (Christmas roses). I made this garden in memory of my best friend who died in 2013 of a brain tumour ( the snowdrops remind me of her) and my old school friend that passed away just before Christmas four years ago, after a battle with ovarian cancer, hence the Christmas Rose). It doesn’t look much at the moment but hopefully this area will soon look more beautiful with all the spring bulbs that i have planted there.
Wellbeing:
- So as we haven’t got a car i pumped my bike tyres up, charged my bike lights and cycled to the allotment today. Going there was fine, but cycling back was a killer as it is all slightly up hill (not to mention i had been working at my allotment all morning too). I may walk to my allotment tomorrow instead as i am absolutely shattered now and my legs are hurting 😢😢😢.
- It’s the second day of week two of my healthy diet….i’m doing well for me but i’ve got to keep going. I could quite easily eat something i shouldn’t this afternoon as I am tired and aching….BUT I’M NOT GOING TO! I’m going to drag myself up and go and walk the dog instead 👏👏👏
That’s it for today
