So the money is currently in both accounts, which would be nice if it's true, but unlikely! I can't invest it yet, as it's evidently not properly arrived (as it's still in the old account 😅), so it's just teasing me at the moment!

Inspired by Julicorn, I have been having a nose at the detailed breakdown of the figures used to make th retirement living standards data. I'm thrilled to report that I am saving 2p/week by not having a washing up bowl, and 1p/week from not having a biscuit tin - though feeling slightly grubby for not getting through a bottle of bleach once a fortnight 😅 If I can hold on to my teeth, I will save 24p/week on denture tablets, but I definitely buy an umbrella more than once every two years, so I'd better allocate more than 10p/week for that 😀

Ooh, where do you find that? Definitely feel that we don’t spend on categories that others do (Ed’s recent comment about how frequently he replaces towels and Jessy’s mention of bath mats being cases in point - both still going strong (ish - def getting to point of needing replacing) after 14 years (wedding presents!).

you might need it when you are older! My mum has a foot care person every 2 months at £30 (I try to go over then too and have my feet done) and the chiropodist (harder to find) on the alternate months. Feet are important if you want to stay mobile and independent into your 80s/90s or later.

I stand corrected greenbee!
Vix, the data is available to download at the bottom of this page. I was looking at the "single female" ones, and the figures I quoted were from the minimum level. There's a huge amount of detail they've gone to in order to work them out

To make up for it, I can let you have a bargain job lot of umbrellas as I seem to acquire them, but don't use them!
