So with you on the car washing story - whilst out riding last weekend I saw a man with a young girl say 13 or so and a car bonnet up and the young girl was doing all the work following direction. I'm fairly sure he could have done it quicker - but - I loved watching how he was teaching her and spending time. The flip side of the car washing I suppose!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Oh, I love that story 🩷! I may have faith in humanity after all!
Thanks for the vote of confidence Ed, but the eligibility checkers disagree with you! I think half the problem is that I already have most cards. I currently have 8 cards from 7 providers, with a total limit of £74,550 and a 38% utilisation rate. Really, I could do with closing some, but then the utilisation goes up 🤷♀️! I don't need to do anything for approx 2 weeks (it expires 06/01, but I'm allowing a bit of leeway for Christmas), so will see how the land lies then and make a decision

You don't need the hassle - pay it off and be done with it!That is a lovely story Watty - and very similar to what is likely to be happening here at the weekend. Mr MV has been asked to supervise a friend's son doing her brake discs - he's learning to be a mechanic at college, but doesn't have the tools (and unsurprisingly mum would like him to have some supervision when working on her brakes for the first time!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It's sat in a cash ISA (barring the last £300ish which I don't have yet 🙄!), but the ISA is set up so that instead of paying me interest each month, they put it in an S&S ISA for me instead. So if I could balance transfer it then even after fees I'd likely end up better off long-term (and would also help with the fact the ISA isn't flexible, so if I withdraw then I can't put it back later!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Sounds like a really good idea re the ISA interest I am doing the same. It is a lot to have on the cards but as long as you are happy and can keep on top of it no need to worry I guess. I can't remember did you complete your home renovations?Save £12k in 25 No 49
