Our neighbours 2-3 doors along pressure wash both of their cars twice a week. 99% sure they're leasing them. Their house is for sale. Young children but house is immaculate, as if nobody lived there. This will always be my impression of people who value washing their cars
Ours gets done once a quarter if that, mostly so I can drive into the car wash and have a 10-minute nap

My car gets washed if it has to go to the main dealer for something (warranty work - although it's now out of warranty, or recall... there's a sensor recall at the moment, so it may be washed for the third time since I've owned at some point which will make it three times in 2 years - WAY above my average with the previous car!).4

Forget the car washing, that's incidental (final tally ended up at two cars, two vans) - my point was that he was spending hours faffing about with that at the expense of spending time with his little girl!
Even if washing cars was a priority, if they just had a more sensible amount of vehicles for two adults, he could had a lot more time having fun!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

(P.S. I am for the car wash once a month, but don't always make it. It seriously needs a vacuum though 😳)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

In other news, these AI surveys seriously weird me out. I know it's AI creating the images/videos, but somewhere behind it is a human coming up with the ideas to feed into it. Some of them are completely crackers 😬!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

That was exactly my intended point with the car washing too SC - people valuing keeping up appearances/being spick and span vs spending time with their young kids...6

Witnessed a woman a couple of weeks ago filming herself in a cafe showing off all the designer stuff she'd bought while her kids just kept saying "mum look at this, mum look at what I'm doing" and she just ignored them. Made me feel very sad for them (and a little irritated as one of them kept running into my table and almost knocking my coffee flying every two minutes)edinburgher said:That was exactly my intended point with the car washing too SC - people valuing keeping up appearances/being spick and span vs spending time with their young kids...
As I've gotten older I just don't give a fig what others think of me, would rather experience things than have things (although keep buying things I don't really need to facilitate the experiencing things 🤣)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20175 -
Gotcha, Ed. Hence the very infrequent car washing 👍
That is very sad, Ruby 🙁 I wish I could get everyone to understand the "less stuff" message, but as I've yet to even get BF on board (not giving up yet though 😅) I think I have a long way to go!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Why do I keep stressing that I may not get a decent balance transfer deal for the card that expires at the start of Jan, when I have enough set aside to pay it off in full??? What is wrong with me 🤷♀️🤦♀️🙄???
Even though it may be better long-term to hang on to the money and invest the interest, it's definitely not a bad idea to just pay the damn things off when they come due (which was actually the plan 🤦♀️!) This constant ruminating is not worth the sleepless nights!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

What would stop you getting a decent balance transfer deal? You seem like a good bet to me and I'm sure the banks feel the same 🤷🏻♂️3
