I am actually fascinated by the movements - sp glad I am not US heavyDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I will also be glad when the flurry of "It's the end of the tax year, have you used up all your allowances?" and "It's the start of the tax year, how are you going to make the most of your allowances?" emails end 🤦♀️! This is where having 4 pensions, an S&S and a LISA ends up being a bad thing!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Recently, I'm finding myself living more and more like a guy I shared a house with in my second year at Uni. He had a pizza delivery gig on top of studying, and the week after payday would be all about fancy cheese and (somewhat ironically) pizzas from the very establishment whence the riches had come. The rest of the month, however, would be cheese sandwiches!
I'm not quite on the cheese sandwiches yet (have you seen the price of cheese 😳?), but I am finding myself drawing up an “austerity budget” shopping list more and more often in the last weeks before payday. This could (more than likely) be due to me just not budgeting enough for groceries, so I'm going to start tracking how much I actually spend for a bit (as opposed to how much I put in the pot and then gloss over what I pinch from elsewhere to cover the shortfall 🙄). I don't really have any slack elsewhere to start adding more into the grocery budget - but knowledge is power, I guess 🤷♀️

I'm focusing on reducing food spends too. Ive been finding myself drawn to veggie dishes these last few months, for cheapness, taste and with ds2 getting more involved with farming so talking about animals- I might actually turn veggie at the age of 44!Save £20,000 in 2025. April 2k, May 3.5k4

I've been veggie for about 15 years now (pescetarian technically, but that's only to allow me a bit more choice when eating out, and so people don't freak out when they have to think what to cook for me 🤦♀️). It's definitely cheaper, but even my costs seem to be going up now. 4 pints of milk seems to have snuck up by another 10p recently without me noticing - grrrr!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
