Getting FIREd up 😀

Oh wow, at least they didn't call me then! I do remember getting an automated phone call from them when I transferred the deposit for my flat to the solicitor ready to exchange, but that was in the pre-app days. When I paid the deposit on my car (nearly double the deposit on the flat 🤣!), I just got all the app questions again, especially when I stated it was for a car - "Have you seen the car?" Yes, I'm looking at it now. "Are you happy with the condition?" Yes, it's brand-new, now let me pay for it 🤦♀️!
I might see if I can muster up the energy to chat with "Sandi" - but then again, I might not 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Actually, that's just reminded me, when I first got the account I had a dodgy chip thing on the card and it kept having to be swiped because it didn't work (the days before contactless, when we still swiped cards!) After a few transactions, I got an automated phone call asking if I recognised them, I said I did and it thanked me and cut me off! I had to then call them to explain why it was having to ask me and get a new card sent out 🤦♀️! I should have known then it wasn't going to be an easy ride!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The new tax year has arrived 🥳!
£4k moved into the LISA, and the last dregs of what was previously in Santander moved into Chip. Following Mr Trump's tariff announcements a few days ago, the LISA is now worth more than each of the two larger pensions - which does somewhat reinforce the importance of cash in any portfolio 🤣🤦♀️!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I've just saved £63.78/£65.60 by not buying an English Heritage membership 😀 They have an offer on today of 8.5% TopCashBack, plus 15% off; or 20% off if you buy from them direct*, so I thought I might sign up ready for a trip I'm doing later in the year. A bit of research later and there are plenty of places I would like to see in that area, but they are all already free entry, so no need! I do still intend to re-join at some point, but evidently not right now (which is good, as I really don't have the money at the moment 🤣) Am feeling very pleased with myself that I did the research first!
* Code MYTH20, if anyone is interested 👍
