Whatever people are saying is inflation definitely factors in items with less inflation that I am not buying… my food bill is going up far faster.
Table 2 is what's been added, Table 3 is what's been taken away, Annex A is what makes up CPI, and Annex B is RPI. Smoked salmon, mango and men's sliders are in; diced turkey, DVD rental and supermarket cafés are out!
I can confirm kale is not on the list 🤣🤣🤣Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I agree with smoked salmon and disagree with supermarket cafés. DVD rentals? I find that funny and I'm a millenial2

Funny story:
Me to a much-younger colleague: "You won't remember Blockbusters" (I was gearing up to deliver the comedy classic "I'll have a P please, Bob")
Much-younger colleague: "Yeah, there was one down the road from me"
It took me a good minute to realise what they meant 🤣🤦♀️!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

South_coast said:I will also be glad when the flurry of "It's the end of the tax year, have you used up all your allowances?" and "It's the start of the tax year, how are you going to make the most of your allowances?" emails end 🤦♀️! This is where having 4 pensions, an S&S and a LISA ends up being a bad thing!
The kale pricing is interesting! I do eat kale as its v good for one... I try to buy organic though where possible on such greens. Currently though organic spinach is on offer at Morries etc so.. 4 for 3 etc..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I'm booked! I've had to rob the petrol budget and the theatre is miles away so will likely require a hotel stay, but I HAVE NO REGRETS 😀😀😀😀😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Right, now I have stopped hyperventilating, it's time for....
First of the month round-up....- Cards minus savings: £22,715.11 (DOWN £3,199.50)
- Savings for retirement: £123,757.75 (DOWN £1,898.45)
- 10.08 years to go
Applied for a new credit card, but frankly it was a no-brainer so I refuse to feel guilty 😀
A good reduction on the net balance this month - though some of that came from draining what was left of the holiday pot for a trip later in the year. Only £119 left in there now (which will not cover spending money!), and none due to be added until April next year. This year of getting solvent is hard 😬* C'mon SC, you're 1/3 of the way through now, you can do it 👍!
Right, positives: 1) I filled the LISA on the first day of the new tax year; 2) Everything I do have in savings is now earning interest free of tax; 3) Moneybox keep messaging me to congratulate me on maxing out the LISA
Oh, did I mention I'm going to see Midsomer Murders 🤔?!?!?!
*I mean, stopping spending like a billionaire would help😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Great progress! I hope you get to have a holiday of some kind later in the year.Aiming to early retire December 31st 2026.3

Thank you 😀!
I probably didn't explain the holiday comment very well, it was past my bedtime 😅 I have two (UK) trips booked, but paying for those and a couple of activities has left me with very little in the holiday pot and lots of costs still to come. I suspect this may be another pot going into minus numbers this year - just need to make sure they don't all do it and I still have something there to borrow against 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
