Grrr, the drop in the base rate has cost me 15p/day so far, and I'm sure the LISA won't be far behind in dropping the rate 🙁
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • New Midsomer Murders tonight!!!

(Not that there has been a single advert for it, unlike "Joan" which I feel like I've seen 400+ ads for and is still being trailed in every ad break weeks after it finished 🤷‍♀️)

    But anyway....new Midsomer Murders!

  • My OH and children will eat Hot Cross Buns all year round if facilitated.
Weirdly I spied some in the GF ‘free from’ section of Sainsbury’s yesterday & did wonder what’s going on ..
(I was tempted but it felt wrong )
maybe some product manager has decided it should have a year round availability

    SC £83 interest is great!
I have a full so £12k added and now £679 interest  h2b isa (but as I am unlikely to be able to buy under £450 it may be useless) and interest rate is 2. Something
I would get it moved but no great rates and it seems like a hassle - especially if I buy in next few months - now £23 pm interest approx on it
I will look though you have inspired me
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

It won't be that much next month, LaPlan! (where is the "shakes fist at BoE" emoji 🤔?)

Is there the option to transfer a Help to Buy now they don't exist any more? I'm not sure how it works once something has been withdrawn. I didn't realise there was a maximum balance, either. I did have one, but only for a few months, as I opened it as soon as they launched and then bought shortly after. Mine was the first my solicitor's office had dealt with, which I seem to recall added about 10 days to the time taken to exchange, as they needed someone to do some training so they knew what to do 🤦‍♀️!

I'm surprised that not everyone in that village is dead yet! They must be selling the houses really cheap and not telling newcomers how awful the crime rate is 🤣
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!
  • They've still not done the "Revisited" series I wanted to see, either. The effect on house prices would fit right in with that....🤔

Don’t worry - I spotted it and recorded it. DH won’t watch it, so I can have some nice time during a weekday enjoying on my own :)

I can still add to my h2b isa... I opened it on the last day I could (rushed down to my local bank whilst feeling awful with flu) I think I have til 2030 to use it... Max balance is only on the rewards - you only get the 25% uplift up to £12k added. So I have added £12k and the remaining £693 is interest since Dec 2019! So its now just returning £24 pm interest into itself.

Tx for the heads up on the solicitor needing training and exchange issues - though I have to buy under £450k to get the extra cash - a limit I was staying under before when looking but we will see... £475k seems more of a stretch but gets me what I am thinking is my lifelong London home... as in I would not have to move again unless major life changes..

BOE  fist shaking emoji would be v useful!

This reminded me of you, but I had a survey asking, "Apart from your partner, how many of the following groups do you live with? Child under the age of 1..."

My survey offerings for today were so ridiculous that I've managed to erase them from my brain 🤣!

More importantly, when are you watching the new Midsomer Murders??? I almost referred to the body count yesterday evening, before realising that would be a massive spoiler 😯!
