You've just inspired me to go an update my pensions sheet as received my updated statement yesterday. Have way less money than you and way longer to go, that I do know 🤣
I know what you mean about things being boring though, it's like you're working towards the goal but the goal is far away and things are ticking along and there isn't anything you can change to move the goal forward. Sometimes boring is nice though 😆Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20173 -
Thanks Ruby! If it makes you feel any better, I don't feel any richer as 9% of it is for "the other thing" and 83% is locked out of my reach for at least 17 more years 🤦♀️ - so I won't be throwing in the towel any time just yet!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

It is rubbish isn't it South_coast? Even if we weren't in this warm spell; we are just into September and I for one am not thinking that far ahead yet. However I was in Sainsbos today and they had a big Cadburys Christmas choc display up already! Averted my eyes for sure. End Oct/ early Nov is plenty early enough for me personally.2

I am going to confess to having bought Christmas wine, chocs and biscuits already as all were the same price or cheaper than recent years (even allowing for inflation). All stashed away.

Yep - Sainsburys also have mince pies (that go off before xmas) and advent calendars *sigh* There used to be an unwritten rule when the xmas stuff only came out after fireworks night. I wish they would bring that back!

Since my DS was born a lot of years ago I have had to buy any decent birthday cards by the end of August despite the fact his birthday is in October. At the beginning of September all the shelves get taken up by christmas.

It just makes everything one crazy blur. At the moment we have Back to School, Halloween and Christmas all in the shops at the same time. I know people go mad over Christmas, but surely it doesn't need almost 4 months of prep 🤔?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

@South_coast - I believe "spreading the cost" is the mantra for shops these days - will soon just have all seasonal stuff available all year round3
-
That it explains the large tubs of sweets I saw in Aldi this morning Christmas/Halloween. Thankfully I didn't see any mention of the celebrations they were aimed at.
I confess I have bought 1 present - in my defense it was the perfect present for DN, covering two of their favorite things in one object, it is secondhand so I'm unlikely to see another one. Added to that it was well within my budget 😉
I would prefer it if shops/websites held off until November to start shoving Christmas in our faces.
I spread the cost by saving monthly.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family4
