I managed a 6 hour sleep with just one loo visit 🙂 Unfortunately that means the morning has gone 🙁 & it didn’t help that for some reason I left my glasses downstairs 😱 so was groping around for five minutes until I found them 😔 Now that I can see, I have taken out the sausages for tonight’s dinner + the meat for tomorrow - from the freezer. DH has wrapped DSis’s present. Much as I know I will enjoy our Christmas dinner & our visit to Kent, at this point in time I wish I could wake up & it was Wednesday - bah humbug 😉

bit_by_bit, I loved your first paragraph so am quoting it in its entirety “I am loving the sense of the ending of the year on here. I like beginnings so I always look forward to the New Year. Although I didn't achieve everything I wanted to this year I feel like good progress has been made both with decluttering and my attitide to getting rid of stuff, organisation and dealing with frogs. A big win this year was writing birthday cards the month before the day, all in one go. No panicked buying of cards and time wasted do add hoc trips. They have a safe space in the house so don't get lost either” You have captured the ethos of the thread very succinctly 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏 Sorry to hear about DiL’s fall & will join you in your relief that thankfully she & the baby only sustained bruises 😥
What a lovely thing to say vulpix - I for one am proud to be a member of your internet family ☺️ Any chance of a bowl of chilli - sounds like a fine Christmas dinner 🙂 Right back at you - hope you have a lovely solstice time/Yule/ Christmas/Hanukkah. By the way, you shouldn’t have any regrets about decluttering lots of Christmas tree decorations as you will have the fun of making new ones next year 😉
nannywindow, sounds like everything is in hand for a lovely few days 😊 Lots of family & all that decluttering of food 😉 The staff of the TLC Carriage have asked me to give you a medal 🏅 for all your help 😊 Wishing you a quick recovery from your head cold & hoping that you & DGD get to share a box of chocolates 😉 I am blushing again ☺️ - a national treasure & a medal 🥇
Excellent work Fizz2015 👏 Sounds like all your plans are in place for a lovely Christmas & even better a holiday in the sun ☀️ Thank you for the Generous praise of the Decluttering thread - all our fellow declutterers make it such a lovely place to be 😊
Excellent decluttering Deni_debt-free_dreamer 👏 Well at least the gift bags will come in useful over the next few years 😉 I might have started the thread but all of our fellow declutterers make this such a lovely place to be 😊
Friends visiting & allowed into the house 😉, TC77 - you have done an excellent job of decluttering 👏 Shame about the few items to landfill but well done on using free site as much as possible 👏
Sending get well wishes Floss & hoping your TLC will work quickly 😊 You do have a busy day planned 😥 It will be lovely to see your family over Christmas ☺️
Plans well in place GrannyKate & how nice that DS2 is doing the cooking 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏 Crossing everything that your bank account will not be as bad as you fear 🤞
Excellent work QueenJess 👏 Very impressed that your DD is now a fully fledged member of the Decluttering Club so one medal for each of you 🏅 🏅
bit_by_bit, plans well in place & am loving the delegation of tasks 👏 I might pop round later for a slice of apple cake 🤤
Excellent decluttering grandmanerd & well done on hitting your target - one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 🙂 As to not doing as much as you wanted, I am wagging my finger as you have done an inordinate amount of decluttering over the year & have definitely been an inspiration to many of our fellow declutterers 👏 You do need to slow down and be well enough & energised enough to enjoy Christmas with your DS1 ☺️ I am keeping everything crossed that DS3 & Beloved will do at least some tidying & decluttering whilst you are away 🤞🤞 As to the last three paragraphs of your post what thoughtful & useful observations 👏 I think many of us ‘forget’ that there are things we can control as long as we treat ourselves with the same TLC as we shower on our family & friends 😉 The challenge is managing other people’s expectations 😔MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 🥇🥇🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🏆

I have been out to buy a few bits, new jumper and bag for NYE. I was reading that if you get a sparkly accessory it will be used more than a sparkly outfit so I got a black Zara jumper and a gold sparkly clutch bag to wear. I might look for a gold sparkly scarf to match after Christmas.
I have been putting another bag together to donate after Christmas too. We are getting our house decorated in January so I don't want there to be lots of unnecessary clutter to get in the decorator's way.
I was going to have a last minute trip to Aldi but I feel tired from walking around today so I will send my husband with a list. He is in bed as he worked the night shift last night. We don't need anything for the next few days, but if there are any "treat" things he will get them.
I did buy myself a Christmas present of two speciality beers from a local restaurant today. I am decluttering the carrot cake flavour beer now.2025 GOALS

Hope you enjoy your time with family and your little grandaughter. I did mention it elsewhere after originaly thinking ds1 would be taking you to their house. You do seem to pick up bugs easily and last December you were ill then mum was admitted to hospital. Take great care with public transport too many people think everything is fine now we aren't under govt guidelines but in this area alone there is Omicron, Seasonal Flu. Norovirus and other things filling both hospitals in out trust although this is an area where most people do take care.I remember you still wear a mask like myself and many others with ECV family to protect so hope you have them with you on your journey.Enjoy your little one and the break from the chaos.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I’ve completed the challenge and DeCluttered 2022 items from my house!I’m updating my signature to start the 2023 challenge.
I also want to complete more NSD than I have this year, I’ve done 81 but haven’t been recording as I should have. The selling on eBay netted me £2k which is amazing!
I’m hoping to do as well next year but won’t be selling just donating to charity shops.Congratulations to everyone taking part and to Mrs SD who has been consistently warm, encouraging and welcoming. Please sign me up for next year.

6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedSaturday has been a dry, bright & warm day. I finally got around to doing something 😉 Bed stripped & first load in wm, mattress rotated with DH’s help, new bedding put on & winter duvet now on bed - DH seems to feel the cold but only at night 🤔 I discovered when putting on the new duvet cover that part of the side seam had come undone so very unusually I repaired it there & then 😉 Also shredded 2” of office paperwork.

Today's task is finishing up getting presents ready for tomorrow - four Christmas presents, 2 birthday presents, and a hostess gift for my sister. Plan on decluttering some things also by taking unworn shoes for grandniece who wears the same size I do. Recluttered a bit though as my sister brought me some sweaters which I really need as can't find most of mine (I gave a lot of my heavier sweaters to my friend in Colorado where it has been freezing). I won't be wearing one for Christmas however as the temperature here will be about 24 C.
Two roommates will be celebrating Christmas here at home - hopefully together. They aren't always talking to each other. One has family in Missouri and the other only knows one daughter and her family are in Michigan (doesn't know where the other two daughters even live). One roommate is celebrating with his grandmother. The remaining roommate is going with me to my sister's house. She has been going for the last twelve years so considers herself part of the family. When we get back from my sister's, we will have dinner with the other two who are home.
I'm bringing sliced turkey, potato salad, and a loaf of bread for Christmas dinner. We bring sandwich fixings and salads, so the meal isn't a lot of work for anyone. I remember the days of going to my grandmother's and watching all the women spending the day in the kitchen making a big meal - sometimes for twenty-four or more people. There will be twelve of us, but will only take about twenty minutes to get everything out and ready for lunch. We will spend a couple hours opening presents, then have dessert. One sister lives only two miles from me and we will be traveling together in her car. Takes about thirty minutes to get to the other sister's house. Hostessing sister's children and grandchildren are coming, but it only takes about twenty minutes for them to get there. No real long distance travel involved. Well, thirty miles for us but all on freeways.
Wishing everyone a good holiday season.

It's just me DS & the cat this year but I could not be happier. I feel truly grateful that after the difficult year that 2021 was we have completed 2022 in a happier and healthier place.
Sending love and wishes for a Joyful Christmas to you all.

My very best wishes For Christmas and New Year to every one of my virtual friends here especially Mrs SD.
It has been a tough year in RL as it has been for many I know. I've really missed late DH as a problem shared is a problem halved or so they say. I have appreciated the non judgemental chatter and advice offered on this site. Decluttering has gone well but target not reached. Getting ready for next year.
Alone this evening but family will be here from teatime tomorrow for 3 days. Fridge stuffed with food and presents under the tree. DS2 will be back in early hours I think. I've been cleaning and tidying so some general tat out. Moved study around so DGS1 can sleep in here on futon and there is space for DGS4 to put some of his lego etc so we can have all the dining room as there are 14 for lunch Boxing Day. I am going to walk to the local church for 11pm service. It's pretty safe around here and there are usually others walking the same way. I spoke to my sister in US who thankfully arrived at her granddaughters after an awful drive from Ohio down to West Virginia. They slid into a barrier at one point so car has some dents but lights etc all ok and drivable. She said it was some of the worst weather she had seen in 55 plus years in US.
A peaceful and happy Christmas to you all.2025 Decluttering Campaign 635/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Merry Xmas everyone
This is my last numbers post for 22 to let you get a break Mrs sd.( ill still be reading and posting but no more numbers)
General and craft room 96, cds 7, mags 1, kitchen 1, frogs 6 making grand total of ..........836.
I had set a target of 1000 so thats not bad at all. I'm certain I've missed counting quite a lot and i haven't counted anything from the huts, greenhouse or garden so pretty certain we will be well over.
I've loved all the chat over the year, the support, the ideas and the general friendship. Its been encouraging and inspiring and motivational.
Thank you all, especially Mrs sd, who even though she will already have enough medals pinned to her chest that she likely won't be able to get up deserves at least one more - 🏅

Having just returned from the pub where I spent the evening with good friends (including the landlord who found us as we were leaving) I’m reminded of the importance of the people who love and support us. So, on that note, wishing you all a happy, peaceful and joyous festive period.
