As stated earlier, I'm feeling overwhelmed, and I know it will only get worse until 2 January. I have skipped the last 5 WI gym sessions, which I really shouldn't do. Having regularly recurring events helps keep me grounded when I have the feeling life flies me by. It has to be events for me; events for others in the family just give me the 'oh no, let's scramble to organise getting dd there!'.

956. Made a makeshift window covering for kitchen - it was looking a bit stark in there
957-9 - 3 x Christmas decs
960. Storage bagIt's actually looking like a pretty good week in theory!
Decluttered DS to a taster course at the Princes Trust today - he seemed to enjoy it and I'm hoping he will do the longer version of the course next week 🙏 .
961 - laid some vinyl on a part of the dining room floor - basically replacing an old bodge job with a neater bodge job.
962 - covered a chopping board in same vinyl to make for a neater cat-feeding area
963-5 - 3 x planks of laminate flooring (from old bodge job)

Went to mum's. Cleared 5 raised beds, gathered dropped, drooping, broken and damaged leaves from the 'palm' type plant in the front garden, Sprayed the gravel, pavement edge, gutter, gravel edging, and the path with weedkiller - I hate it, it's not coming home with me. Brown and green bins out for collection. Sorted through some of the shed things, 5 bags packed up (large coiled hose pipe, builder's bag, paint oddments, small cleaning tools, something else). Emptied the post box, all obvious junk binned, brought the rest home (sorted since - the majority was more junk and a couple of people I've already told to take her off their mailing lists).
2 Christmas trees, one bag of decorations and one bag of table stuff (tray, table runner, placemats, small tablecloth, etc) to the cs - lovely taxi driver, I'd left the door open in case he only had a small car and the larger tree had to be left behind but he was very determined that it would go in.
Got home, ate, phone call from the Estate Agent - the buyer's son is flapping about his mother moving into a house with a possibly unsafe boiler - not been done for 5 years? No - mum had it done every year (he must have been looking at the reports from before mum bought it, when it was rented out. It would normally have been done at the end of January but as mum's funeral was on the 26th January, getting the boiler serviced was not at the top of my agenda. Anyway I offered to try mum's gas man but not sure if he'd be able to do it before completion date, I would pay for the service anyway.
Couldn't find the number. I've utterly destroyed an A5 one inch thick hb diary this year, currently using a mid year diary but haven't transferred phone numbers and any normal stuff (like the plumber's number in my ordinary address book) has been swamped by the influx of paperwork (I know it must be here somewhere but can't remember the last time I had it). Phoned mum's lodger (he lives in what was my grandma's house) to get the plumber's number as we did have the rented house boiler serviced.
He was in the SM but would text me the number when he got home. Tried online and found the number (DS3 had tried when I was downstairs and couldn't find it). He was in and had squeezed me into tomorrow's schedule. Phoned the EA back to pass on the good news. Then topped up my phoned as was down to my last £ and then set the phone to charge as it was tired and emotional (only need to charge it once a week usually).
DS3 and I have both had a go at the wall and I've filled half the green bin with ivy and pyracantha clippings and ivy stems entwined around the corner post. 1190/2022. Renewed my library books first thing, in case I run out of time in the next couple of days.6 -

4851-4856: items to recycling
4857-4863: items to bin
Anybody wants me, I'm packing and getting ready for work.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV during daylight hours 😉 AB2 playing zero - 20/9/2022
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedWhatever happened to Monday & Tuesday 😱 I am definitely feeling better but both days (although I got dressed as soon as I got out of bed) I did nothing apart from knit, watch TV & sleep - nodding off at the drop of a hat. Monday our 2nd H**lo F*e*h box was delivered - over an hour later than the 4 to 6 p.m. slot 😑 DH & I picked the quickest to cook - creamy truffled bacon & pea spaghetti. DH & DSis raved about it, I thought it was OK. Wudupa.
Tuesday was DH’s birthday 🥳 - birthday dinner was sausages, mash, tomatoes & baked beans. DSis was the only one who bought him a present - a T-Shirt with a message about being an old Harley Davidson rider. DSis also did wu, I dried & put away.
Wednesday is currently dry. DH has gone out - riding the tube 😉 - the joy of a free Oyster card 🙂
2035 - 2047 Kitchen recycling x 2, newspaper, 2 magazines, drinks cans x 2, booklet, 3 cardboard boxes, 2 plastic pots - recycled
2048 - 2049 Kitchen detritus x 2 binned
Thanks to all those who have come up with ideas for TC77’s open kitchen shelves - wort, Floss, retiredinfrance, Siebrie 👏
Fingers crossed that your cat is OK, TC77 🤞
Sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell Fizz2015 😔 I think you are correct in that the last couple of years have meant we have no resistance to any winter bugs especially if we have abandoned wearing our face masks (I haven’t but still managed to catch a cold 😔)
grandmanerd, everything crossed that completion of the house sale goes through promptly & with no further issues 🤞Excellent decluttering 👏 I am with you on liking round figures but after years of training myself I can now cope with odd figures 😂 The day out with DS1 & his wife sounds lovely 😊although very tiring 😔 Well done on resisting temptation 👏 Great tale of considerate people far outnumbering inconsiderate one’s - as you say a process of re-education 😉 Sorry to hear about your brother - hopefully your niece can get prompt appointments for your brother. Sending wishes for a favourable & quick recovery. More excellent decluttering 👏 Also sending get well wishes to you 🙂
Sorry to hear your op was cancelled EnergyShifter 😔 Personally I think common sense dictates that the info re not wearing contact lenses for 24 hours should have been reiterated in the appointment letter & in bold writing - but maybe that is just me 😉 Pleased to hear that the op is rebooked & that you are looking on the bright side & taking the opportunity to get some work 🙂
TC77, another reason to love our fellow declutterers - lots of great ideas for dealing with your open shelves 😊
Back later - just finishing my coffee & then off out 😉

DS has decided he doesn't want to go away for the weekend which is fine with me - it'll save me some money and its one less thing to think about. I think I'll try to have at least one of my days off as a little trip outside London even if its just to Rochester.
I watched a really good YouTube video this morning about "Toxic Clutter". It's by a decluttering YouTuber called The Minimal Mom- she's interviewing a Therapist about the negative effects of certain types of clutter and why we hang onto it - I found it really interesting. I find her videos motivating as she's not too "perfect"!

Put my new Christmas tree up at the weekend. And had way too many excess decorations. So I put a post up on local FB page today and waiting on them being collected.8
-
Slow progress here as I have a touch of DGS4 and DS2's cold and sore throat. Little one has thrown it off as they do but DS2 and I still struggling.
1252 Cleared out fridge
1253 Took Christmas tree gift to Mr Dun - they had tags with suggested items so we got some things for small boy same age as DGS4.
1254 Wrapped all the gifts I have so far
1255 Started writing cards as they will have to be posted early next week as I am away for a week after that
1256 Ordered and paid for Christmas meat
1257 Plastics to recycling at SM
1258 Posted DS2's old phone for recycling although postal strike so its not going far.
1259 Posted other cards
1260 December birthday cards done (only 2) but realised I have an anniversary card to get as well.
1261 Finished filling advent tree pockets for DGD4 (it was quite hard to find 24 things small enough to fit pockets but I managed it) and hung up for tomorrow when they come. DGS4 has a bought lego one.
1262 Spent lots of money for presents but should get some back as shared gifts
1263 Booked time slot to get real Christmas tree on Sunday - local farm but they have limited parking so ask you to book a time slot if you are going at weekends. last year's tree was really good.
1264 Bought some odd Christmas things - pudding, stuffing, mincemeat etc
1265 Booked collection spot for tree in January - local hospice do this for a donation every year
1266 Did banking for November - could be worse.
1267 Quiz questions done for tomorrow. Football theme although I know nothing about the game.
I need to go through clothes for my 6 days in Germany and get some Euros. I do have a list of things to get for Christmas - mostly stocking gifts as I give money.
Nothing is happening with my smelly bathroom so I am resigned to having concrete floors over the holiday. Dehumidifier eating electricity.
Hugs to all who need them. I think it was Mrs SD who suggested poorly small person could come in TLC - I am afraid the cakes and biscuits would have disappeared very fast.2025 Decluttering Campaign 635/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedYes, I did go out 🥳 Bus then DLR to Lewisham & walked round to British Red Cross shop. Two bags of donations & a bag variously sized bags + tissue paper - already counted 🙁 However I added a bag of hand knitted items - 2 scarves, 2 pairs of wrist warmers, 2 beanies & all 5 ear-warmer headbands. Posted all my Christmas cards & had a little mooch past the market stalls. I resisted the temptation to buy any food as I need to sort both fridges & freezers 😉 I did however pop into Wilko & bought a spray squeegee (now do not have an excuse to avoid cleaning the windows 😂), 100 tea lights & a spare Fairy Liquid. I know how to live 🤣
Dinner tonight is a pre-cooked chicken that DSis bought when she went out on Monday, with roast potatoes & parsnips, mashed sweet potato, carrots & peas. All the vegetables are prepped. Sadly, the fridge sort out will come too late - I had to compost the broccoli 😔 So the main frog to be dealt with is sorting out fridge & freezers, making soup & menu planning. Whilst I was cooking dinner I did several bits of decanting - salt into salt cellar, coffee from tin to jar, olive oil from 5l tin to pourer which led to a bit of decluttering - the empty 5l tin & an empty coffee tin. Will do the wudupa after watching Alien 😉
2050 - 2060 Hand knitted items to cs
2061 - 2064 Kitchen recycling, 5l tin, drinks cans, cardboard box - recycled
2065 Kitchen detritus binned
Wow grandmanerd 🤩 you have been exceedingly busy. Brilliant decluttering & planning 👏 I am especially impressed with the interim storage - like with like 👏 You are my heroine - working like a Trojan & getting so much done 😊 from paperwork filing to book sorting & everything in between.
Excellent work bit_by_bit especially the large item out 👏 I hope the bone density scan results are optimal 🤞
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 Fingers crossed that work improves 🤞
Excellent work deleting emails florianatwobob 👏
Great work oceanspirit 👏 Mission Control will be sorted 😉 Hope the chair can be made safe at minimal expense 🤞
TC77, perhaps work backwards - I have parcel tape where would I put it 😉
weenancy, it always amazes me how much work you do for the library 🤩 What a success story especially the fact that all your book sales have generated enough funds for 8 other branch libraries Reading Programmes 🥳 No wonder the Library is winning national awards 👏 (What a shock - condolences to her family & friends) Pleased to hear that members of the board will be assisting you in keeping the library & sales going 🙂 Blinkers & earmuffs should help you to ignore your roommates 😉😉 Good luck with the continuing kitchen sort out 🍀 - Christmas cookies here we come 🙂
Lovely to see you SanguineGina 👋 Excellent work reaching & exceeding your target 👏 Four Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Your inner critic is consigned to the Tip, roundtuit 🥳 Great decluttering 👏 even if you are supposed to be in the TLC Carriage 🙂 You should feel good 😊
Another item out TC77 👏
You really were inspired Wednesday2000 😀 Great work decluttering your wardrobe 👏 Remember to keep one ‘fancy’ bag for when you go out partying 😉
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏
Sorry to hear you are feeling overwhelmed Siebrie 😔 Please try to fit in at least one WI gym session before you succumb to being at everyone’s beck & call 🙏 You NEED time for you 😊
Yippee EnergyShifter - you have taken some time for yourself - a bit of TLC will always perk one up 🥳Fingers crossed that DS makes his mind up quickly so you can book somewhere to stay 🤞 Sending positive vibes & a wish that you have a lovely weekend 😊 Good decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering grandmanerd 👏 You have been very busy. Now the jiggly bits come to light 😖but very well done on getting the plumber to fit you in for a boiler service 👏 Fingers crossed that this is the last glitch & completion can proceed swiftly 🤞The garden must be almost finished now 🤞🙂
Excellent decluttering EnergyShifter 👏 You used your unexpected time far more productively than I ever do 😉 I usually resort to knitting & watching rubbish 😉
Excellent work short_bird 👏 and what a great ambition 😃
Now, now EnergyShifter - bursts of energy are not sustainable in the long term - you just have to make use of them when they appear 🙂 You are still decluttering so you must have some energy 👏 Oh well, no weekend away but I still wish you a lovely weekend at home 😊 I have bookmarked that uTube video - I also prefer not perfect declutterers 😉
Great work mhagster 👏 I know that if I actually had any Christmas decorations I would be unable to let any go 😂
GrannyKate, not really what I would call slow progress 😉 more like excellent decluttering of items & tasks 👏 Hope you have a lovely time in Germany 😊 Sorry to hear that the bathroom won’t be sorted but at least you can cross that off your 2022 list & transfer it to 2023 😉 Little one can definitely come into the TLC Carriage - you must know by now that there is an endless supply of cake, biscuits, soft drinks & alcoholic drinks (adults only 😉) 😅
I have caught up again 🙂
