So, he picks just one item to remember your father by, and YOU get to pick the nice items. Talk to him and SIL? Or will that blow up?

Hello all, just spent about a week reading the posts as I have been mia about 6 weeks. I have to say @roundtuit you have been absolutely chugging through things and inspired me to actually deal with some clutter I've been putting off.
So - out is several items of clothing that I feel no longer suit me. Also out some fancy dresses that I got when working for a firm that had regular nights out/award nights etc., now working for a more chill firm.
Also out - quite a lot of Mr Puppy's graphic t-shirts. Several of which I simply didn't like the message on, but never wanted to force him to get rid. He's kept a couple, but most of them are out 🥳
Also out - a chest of drawers, courtesy of above decluttering of clothes. Also managed to get rid of a gaming chair that Mr Puppy didn't use any more and had been claimed as a cat bed, an automatic cat feeder from when we had only one cat, a spare dust pan and brush, and a spare set of measuring cups.
There is now more space available, and the bedroom looks bigger as the chest of drawers was replaced by a smaller one from the spare bedroom.
I have had a couple of ins, and someone (apologies can't remember who!) helped me feel better about it. In one Tiffany lamp. I have wanted a Tiffany lamp since I first saw them, and this one was on sale (but still quite expensive). However I love it. And someone mentioned that the purpose of decluttering isn't to live a life of nothing - but to make space for the stuff we actually want. So thank you, because I was umming and ahhing, especially with it being expensive, but that did help me reframe.
Also in - a floor lamp for the living room. This means we have a more cosy light than the main light which can be a bit harsh.
And the final thing in... A bike. And more importantly, I have finally actually learnt to ride a bike. It has taken far longer than I would like to admit for me to overcome my fear and lack of confidence, but I can now ride a bike.
And done! Apologies for the massive post, but I do find it helpful to catalogue my thoughts and see that I am still making progress even when I have 'finished' the main round of decluttering15 -

When clearing the family home of 30 years with my siblings, we all had a pile we gathered. At the end of each day each pile was inspected & some bartering took place - for example I have the serving tongs & carving plate, but a brother has the electric carving knife.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Probably doing my brotherba disservice as he only wants a few things it's just most things have been knocked around during my dads almost century and from other generations. Sending some pics to someone for a quote for restoring. He wanted my mums desk so I said yes to my dads which is plainer and less valuable ( although everything below £100 so not talking proper valuable).
Both agree more needs to go. Vintage sledges for one!

Hope you are feeling better soon @EnergyShifter
Interesting discussion thanks to @TC77 Your brother does need to be a bit considerate of you as well as his wife.

I pay my music tutor (saxophone) £20 for an hour, but he's retired & comes to me.
When I did my exam a couple of years ago I needed a pianist to accompany me, I paid £15 for about 30 mins practicing before hand, and £20 for the exam day (was about 15 mins).
I would say 30 mins seems like a short session time for a music practice though, an hour is better, or 45 mins at a push. I'm not sure there would be a lot of good work done in 30 mins.

Evening All,
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger thank you for my medal, made my day ❤️
Well this evening we started the task of destroying the mouldy furniture in the bedroom. One chest destroyed and residing in the garden. 5 bin bags of washing so far. 1 chest to take apart tomorrow. Now to find the cause of the mould. It's overwhelming but trying to break it down into stages and it's encouraging me to declutter.
81- advert calendar packaging recycled.
82 - frog paid for school panto trip
83 - Frog - major work issue sorted.
84 - mouldy chest of drawers destroyed and will be going to tip on Thursday
85 - 87 2 mouldy pairs of slippers and a wrist support binned.
88-100 - old magazines to recycling
101 - face oil binned, had for years and my skin reacts every time. Why did I keep it!?

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV during daylight hours 😉 AB2 playing zero - 20/9/2022
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Tuesday stayed dry all day but oh so chilly 🥶 DH put the heating on. I did get dressed 😉 then DH & I went out to Canary Wharf. The sunglasses frame I had picked which was sent to a specialist lens fitter proved too large to accommodate my prescription 🙁 - refund received. I then went to bank to get cash & DH headed off to find a Santander to bank his cheque. I also popped into M&S for tonight’s dinner - lasagne (yellow stickered 🥳) & garlic bread. Sadly the self serve checkout was a disaster - needed a staff member twice 😡 When DH got back I headed into Boots & finally managed to get my flu jab 🙂 The nurse advised about getting a pneumonia jab - I should ask when I next visit the doctor - otherwise it is £75 at Boots 😬 I also took the opportunity to post a couple of letters. I have nearly finished knitting a 4th pair of wrist warmers & will sew up numbers 3 & 4 tonight.2002 - 2004 Kitchen recycling, cardboard box, drinks cans - recycled
2005 - 2006 Kitchen & office detritus - binned
Good advice for TC77, Floss & Siebrie 🙂
That’s the problem with being a womble, TC77 😉 doesn’t help much with the decluttering 😉
Lovely to see you back, Foofoopuppy 👋 Hope everything is O.K. & that you have just been busy with RL 🤞 Seems like you have been busy decluttering as well - well done 👏 especially with Mr Puppy’s T-shirts & making your bedroom bigger👏 You now have a medal 🏅 to go with your Tiffany Lamp. Hopefully whoever it was who helped you reframe your thought process will step into the limelight to receive a medal 🙏 Congratulations for learning to ride a bike 🥳
Sounds like an exhausting day with GC3, bit_by_bit 😪 but you still found some time to deal with paperwork 👏
