Afternoon everyone
Now we have decluttered DD1's operation, I have a bit more time to focus on decluttering c**p from the house, garage, shed, loft.
Yesterday i had a productive morning in town, shopping in the zero waste shop, SM and DIY shop. I have meal planned upto payday (20th) & am hoping to buy no food other than bread and F&V. As it was a nice day and I was on a roll i decided to tackle the shed!! It had branches growing inside and cobwebs everywhere, the door doesn't open properly so i had to squeeze my way in after chopping a few branches away and using the yard brush to remove cobwebs. I found some stuff for the CS which i have washed and put in a pile, I have lots of craft stuff that i'm keeping in a box to add to (from the garage) plus stuff for the tip. Today I filled up my car and took all the rubbish to the tipThis included a load of wood that the roofers left when they replaced my flat roof on my porch. While in town I got some charity bags from the CS which i will start to fill up.
I've still got about half a shed full of rubbish but I've started so i'll finish
Hope everyone is ok

@Deni_debt-free_dreamer and anyone else feeling overwhelmed with emails , is it possible to open a new email address for important emails , and then delete all in the old one and shut it down??I’m not techie so not sure if you can do this. I know I have an old one that came with an internet provider and I haven’t opened that account since I left the provider .
Books I can only read once anyway so have no problem if I get given one I just pass on to family. I have BorrowBox now so can read from the library which is great for me as I don’t need to physically go to the library now and no late fines as they let you know when it’s due back so that you can extend or return.
I have been catching up as I had been off for a while. I am sorry but can’t remember Who was saying they did not know where to start as others said start small , many of us the did Marie Kondo which started with us all doing our knicker drawer! She recommended a series of categories starting with the ones you have least attachment to, so leaving books and photographs till last worked well for most.
Mrs SD started this declutter thread and there are a few if you search on the forum some of which had lists of helpful websites or YouTube videos, also of charities that take different items such as reading glasses ,bras, even wedding dresses.
good luck as it’s definitely worth keeping at it. 1 in 1 out or even 2 out, is a good start. Deal with paperwork as it arrives so you are not adding to your stuff. Also my favourite putting like with like . So all stationary together, cleaning products together etc so that you can find things easily and they all have a “home”
@Siebrie hugs to you and you family.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.11 -
One lawn mower retrieved from the back of the wooden shed and taken by DS. If it works he'll keep it to cut his grass, if it doesn't he'll take it to the skip.
And I now know where my ironing board is. And my Ewbank sweeper. And a pogo stick. And. And. And.
Oh my.

Well, look at me showing off by posting from my laptop! I have finally managed to get back in and also back into my emails. 908 unread, mostly from Estate agents in North Lincolnshire who still think I am looking for house after about 3 years.
I have read back and caught up on all posts. Sending support where needed. I am sorry to read about your Dad Siebrie, that is hard.
Whilst the cats away the mice will play. I have done nowt today other than have the heating on and wallow in a bath. It is so lovely to have a warm bathroom! I have ventured up the road to the bakery and bought coffee n cake. I managed to snare an old lady in conversation whilst I was at it.
Mr V is at Brands Hatch and will be on his way back home soon. Tomorrow we are going on a road trip to Boston. We are collecting a vintage road bicycle for DD1's BF who lives in the Shetlands. One of his hobbies is vintage bikes and we will keep it for him until he next visits, possibly Christmas. It is apparently the holy grail of vintage road bikes. Being sold by the wife of a famous racer who now has dementia. It will be very well looked after.
I have come to realise that I am looking at this house as a permanent house. All my previous houses I have never properly unpacked or got rid of stuff because I always expected to move and I might need whatever at the next house,or one of the kids might need it in their house. They are all sorted now and don't need my castoffs. I also realise that I have the luxury of time,I don't need to rush to get the next project completed.Mind you,the bathroom and kitchen really are grim.
My recent soiree into the pantry of doom has resulted in a massive pile of stuff to go in the sitting room. I went through the kitchen cupboards too and ousted some drinking glasses,a pyrex dish and a Le creuset pan. too heavy for me. I will have a go at selling some of it and the rest can go to Bit by bit's chazzer. I will offer the glasses to my neighbour,he is blind and he goes through a lot of glasses and crockery.
The leaves are starting to fall here. Soon the wood will be glorious colours for a short while.Autumn is my favourite season.
Love to all Vx

Very little done today beyond throwing a chicken in the slow cooker for dinner today and a rearrange of the freezers now that the fridge freezer has a nice cold fridge again. I also have an idea of what is in each freezer again and shouldn’t have to do a big shop for a while.I am once again on the sofa watching Poirot in my pjs. Brain is active however the body is definitely knackered today from Covid.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@Siebrie sorry to hear about your dad . An achievement to feel happy/ content with how you've lived your life. Thinking of you and family.
Sorry to hear Covid catching people. DD2 suffering wirh ongoing chesty cough and abit of breathless and a fit teenager although not had a booster. Last time vitamin D was recommended but not sure if applies to current variants.
Walked over the park to return item and went to vintage Market and shops as thinking of getting a stall for a week or two with my dads things. One stall looked like all my stuff so abit haphazard, the shop was v expensive with a teapot from a teasmaid on its own more than I've been asking for working teasmaid !
Bought several dresses from CS but no changing room so they took back - have party to go to and not a dress person but another CS has kept one for me to try on tomorrow. Underestimate the lockdow love handles.
Mrs SD I'm not sure I'm the person to help others as inconsistent and naturally distracted and chaotic despite trying hard. But have been cleaning abit, and suitcases, bedding and empty jars taken to donation hub. Some paperwork sorted and long list for week ahead.

That’s interesting about the Vit D @TC77 as I’ve just googled Vit D rich foods and found out that egg yolks are a good source as are Cheerios. I’ve had a real hankering for both eggs & Cheerios (not together), sounds like I need to keep listening to my body!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV during daylight hours 😉 AB2 playing zero - 20/9/2022
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday was another dry, bright & sunny day but not particularly warm. Apart from writing a shopping list for DH (did put shopping away) I did absolutely nothing apart from make dinner - breadcrumbed chicken, mash & peas. Wudupa.
1674 - 1675 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled

Nice to see you Wednesday2000 👋 Excellent decluttering 👏 Good luck in both your quest to find extraneous items & to have many NSDs 🍀
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 Also well done on 6 of 9 NSDs 👏
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, pleased to hear that you have decluttered DD1’s operation & I hope she is on the mend 🙂 You have been very busy - excellent decluttering 👏
wort, sounds like a good idea but like you I am not a techie 🙁 No favourite book 🤔 Mind you there are so many books & finite time, so maybe that is a good idea to just read once 🤔 ………. but not for me 😉 Some books are trusted friends 🙂 Great reminder to us all of some of the methods of decluttering that can help us get started or reinvigorate our decluttering efforts 👏
Great work roundtuit 👏 Your shed sounds like a treasure trove - how exciting 😄
vulpix, yippee to getting back into your laptop 🥳 Try not to get too engrossed in the North Lincolnshire housing market when clearing down the EA mails & unsubscribing 😉 How lovely to have some alone time in your own home 😊 Sadly, with DSis living with us, I never get more than a couple of hours when she goes to sm & only if DH is out & about. I do miss that but it is what it is. Hope MrV has had a great time at Brands Hatch 🙂 Enjoy your trip to Boston - hope the vintage road bicycle isn’t too expensive 🤞 Fingers crossed that MrV is also thinking along the lines of this house being your permanent home 🤞 The kitchen & bathroom will be your next projects & you can take your time planning & saving 😉 Excellent work in the pantry of Doom 👏 Not sure I have a favourite season as they all have their charms: Spring - nature springing into life; Summer - lazy hot days & ice creams 😋; Autumn - glorious colours & harvesting nature’s bounty; Winter - cold, crisp days.
Great work rearranging the freezer florianatwobob 👏 A bit of TLC is definitely what is called for whilst you are still in the grip of Covid 😊
Pleased to hear that the pleasant weather has perked you up EnergyShifter 😊 It makes everything seem so much easier & more pleasant 🙂 Good work on the decluttering 👏
TC77, sorry to hear that DD2 is unwell 🤒 Sounds like a busy though not entirely successful Sunday 😔 Fingers crossed for the dress & hope you enjoy the party 🙂 Must admit that your description of your decluttering style sounds rather familiar - me to a T 😉
florianatwobob, Had to smile at the idea of Cheerios & eggs 😂 Like you not convinced that they quite go together 🤣

Not much decluttering happening here. DD has been waking every 2 hours for about a week and just when I was at my lowest, she is coming down with a cold and teething at the same time. Cue me checking on her all night as she has a temperature and giving her Calpol. It usually lasts 2 nights with teeth and it started Sat night, so I have everything crossed that tonight will be better.
Just used a few things up over the week. Really need to get back to it, but everything feels a bit overwhelming at the moment.
