We are coming to the end of our holiday. OH said how much easier it was to pack for coming away with fewer things in the house. It has been good to see how clutter starts forming whilst we are somewhere different. Hopefully we will be more aware once back on home turf and not allow mess to accumulate.
Dsis is happy to continue helping me finish my place when I get back. It would be good to get it finished now, especially as OH will need to temporarily move in with me for a few weeks late November.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅8 -
hi everyone from the rainy NW
Not caught up on the 100s of posts since i was last here! Hugs siebre and any others who are struggling.
My DD1 has recovered from her op, has a neat scar (its in a visible place so that's good) and has another check up in 6 weeks. She is still struggling with anxiety but we did manage a trip to visit DD2 recently which was a 300 mile round trip. She was very anxious and tearful at times but also managed to lose herself in the theatre at times and had some laughs with her sis.
I took a bag to the CS yesterday and have unsubscribed from some more emails. My emails are still below 18k. It's a constant struggle! My freezer is full so i need to declutter some food into my tummyI'm getting much better at meal planning and not wasting food.
I love books and reading! I didn't get on with a k!ndle but I try to use the library as much as possible or buy second hand. I did a combined degree and it included 2 years studying Victorian novels - absolute bliss!
My friend has offered to help me get rid of my shed so i'm hoping for dry weather soon to empty it out.
I have a pile of books for z1ff!t so i need to get on with that too.
Love to everyone
Deni xx

Thursday stayed nice. Played hunt the recipe - nowhere to be found 🙁 Dinner was the last of the brisket with mash, peas, carrots & the lovely gravy.Wudupa. DSis & I watched episodes 3 & 4 of Train, a Korean series. We are thoroughly confused but rather weirdly we are enjoying it 🫤 However, I am keeping all the episodes & we will binge watch when the series is finished.
Friday is not as bright as Thursday as the sun is hiding but it is dry & windy. I take it that everyone is aware that “you will find a missing item in the last place you look 👀”, so guess what, I had one last idea & surprise, surprise there was the missing recipe 🥳 Sorted today’s post as well. I have an opticians appointment this afternoon so will try to get my booster jab as a walk-in. Hopefully I won’t have to queue too long 🤞 A rather worrying conversation with my milkman (B) at about 3:00 a.m. B advised that the prices had gone up, no problem from my pov BUT what he said next was rather concerning 😔 Apparently with the increased energy costs the dairy is struggling & the government help is not cutting the mustard. This is due to the dairy having non negotiable fixed price contracts with schools & hospitals 😖 which forms the bulk of their business. B is definitely very concerned 😟

TC77, loving the discussion about books. Sadly I have to admit that I watch far too much TV at the expense of reading 😔 but at least now the nights are drawing in I can get the knitting needles out 😉 Scarves require little to no concentration 😉 Good work on the electronic decluttering 👏
Good decluttering Siebrie 👏 So very sorry to hear about your father 😔 gentle hugs to you both.
nannywindow, I like your dad’s method of decluttering 😂 Hopefully the consultant will be able to help 🤞 Sending get well wishes that you recover quickly from your adverse reaction to the flu jab. A lady after my own heart - Stephen King & Dean Koontz 👏 How joyous that you got your dream job 🤩 The endless washing basket 😱 Both DH & I seem to have recovered 🤞
Shame your holiday is coming to an end oceanspirit 😔 Like the idea that not only is a holiday restful & relaxing but that it sets you up for a decluttering session 😉
Nice to see you Deni_debt-free_dreamer 👋 Promising news re DD1 & hopefully with your gentle approach her anxiety will lessen 🤞 Like you I cannot get on with a Kindle - much prefer the feel & smell of a book 🙂 Keep up the good work with the emails 👏 Pleased to hear that menu planning is reaping benefits - a gradually emptying freezer & no food wastage with the added bonus of less frequent shopping trips 🙂 Fingers crossed that you get a spell of good weather for shed disposal 🤞

No decluttering to report beyond no longer being a Covid free zone. After 2.5 years of successfully avoiding it I have finally tested positive.Once again this can be attributed to DBro who tested positive on Monday. The last contagious gift I received from him was chickenpox when I was 21. I am less than impressed. The LFT took its own sweet time to make up its mind that I was positive and I suspect that I’ve been fighting it off for several days as I’ve had symptoms but been negative. All due to my pretty robust immune system.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Not well again - the bug came back for a second bite. However yesterday I made it downstairs, did several trips to the bins and old boot can go - tatty and cut and doing my feet no good at all. harvested my broad beans and put the stems in the green bin then sat outside and tidied a couple of planters. DW had clean pots - managed two trips across the kitchen to put things away, before having to sit down. Unfollowed some groups and refused a few that are trying to sneak into my news feed, cut back the emails. Using up tin stocks and toiletries (2 antiseptic cream, 1 face cream and nearly a whole pot of Vix) plus a couple that will take a lot longer to use - ibruprofen spray (bought on holiday and it was all they had available) and a shower cream of Beloved's that must have been there for 5 years. My tidy up of the overdoor shoe hanger (holds bathroom toiletries) has led to them using things up more consistently (5 shampoo bottles, 3 only had scraps).

Many thanks for my ⭐️ @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
I have reached my £2022 no as I sold a freezer in the week. Very pleased.
I have been enjoying reading everyone's comments about books. I LOVE books and will never be without a shelf unless I can't read anymore. I have a few go to books which are in paper form and my electronic reader. Like @Siebrie I also borrow from the library electronically and in real life. I keep going in and borrowing but don't aways read them. It keeps the library numbers up whcih means it is less likey to close. I also donate books to the library too. I used to have thousands but am down to hundreds. Many are just to be sold so are boxed ready for that. I also used to do bookcrossing but got bored with that.
Glad you enjoyed Brian @Liverpool_Anne
Sorry to hear about your Dad @SiebrieBig hugs to you both.
I am also a Korean drama addict @Mrs_Salad_Dodger Watching @black' at the moment.
So today 2 bin liners of packaging have gone out today. I am also starting to decant the loft of all the stuff I saved for the CS last year which they couldn't store. There are a lot of bags.
Also, as mentioned above, a chest freezer I have had in the porch for several years has gone. Now DD has left home and we eat fresh and freeze smaller amounts of leftovers so we didn't need it. Also saving on the electricity to keep it running amd I made a small profit. I bought it second hand a few years ago. A win,win win.
I would love to take out the tall shelves from the porch but there are too many shoes and stuff on them. Will think of a solution over winter.
Keep well one and all.

So. I emptied half the pantry of doom. 13 boxes and 2 Christmas trees.1 tree and 8 boxes have gone back. 1 box of ephemera to go in the loft. Christmas decorations have been culled. I am sure that I will be able to do more in the future. I am happy with what I have let go . I have found a few ornaments that I can display now on the new shelves in the sitting room and the new bookcase in our bedroom. There was less tat than I was expecting and very few things that I had forgotten about.I don’t know what to do with the stuff to go. It’s nice stuff. Glass Christmas decorations etc I just don’t know if I can be bothered to try and sell it.Tomorrow I will empty the other side of the pantry. DIY stuff and craft stuff. I am not sure if I will be able to oust much but I think it could look less if it’s tidied. I have been helped today by Fomo cat living up to his name.Vx:9

Ah, @Siebrie that's the kind of news that leaves me lost for words despite the practice we've all had in our lives.
