Onto building a life I love x9 -
@Floss my sister is moving from Hertfordshire to Dorset. She is selling her house to buy my MIL old house. I cannot really leave large items in the house as she has her own furniture to take down. Originally she didn't consider my house as it is much smaller but she did some measuring and can just fit things in.
I was too hot and tired to do anything yesterday but was determined to do something today. I brought some beer glasses back from Dorset as I free cycled some here and loads of people wanted them. Found a few more here and decided on the 8 I want to keep(I had decided 6 but just couldn't) Offered them to the person who missed out last time and they have already collected them. I had to put them in shoe boxes as I couldn't find a bag...so 3 shoe boxes gone too. Win win In total I have given away 60 pint glasses!!!!!!!! (told you my hubby was a hoarder)
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D10 -
Haven't posted in awhile as my days are best left unmentioned. Yesterday was just an example - started out to e-mail a friend happy birthday - only to find out he had just passed away. Tried to pay a bill through my bank - and they thought it was spam and contacted me - even though I had entered the information and the company was in their files. I'll have to check Monday to see if it actually worked. Last month the bank rejected it. Paid the car license bill after not being able to on Friday. Went to FaceBook - my sister's account had been hacked. Got call from young man who we sometimes take places as he doesn't drive - needed to
to go to McDs. I took him and he did buy me breakfast - but he really just needed someone to talk to as his Grandmother is in Colorado and he is alone for the first time in his life. So spent an hour with him. Came home, tried to get roommate to move boxes of books to her room - unable to get her to budge. I will have to do something today about them. Temperature in the 90s here - so brought husky in. She was fine for several hours - or so I thought - but when I let her out, found out she had found a pancake syrup bottle and opened it by biting into it and it had been leaking all over the floor - into boxes that were nearby. After several hours of cleaning the floor and emptying boxes to save the contents, I now have a clean section of floor - but stuff all over the living room that needs to be rehomed. Did find two of the missing library books in the process though.
One roommate still thinks he is getting married next week - even though he doesn't even know enough about the young lady (28 - he is 63) to fill out the form for the registrar - including what her real name is! So trying to communicate with him is hard. He has never meet her in person - just texted and talked on the phone. Looks like his poor little dog will spend the next week or two whining if he does leave - and I will be trying to take care of her too downstairs. He can't take her with him. She is already registered in my name as he was homeless when we first got her registered so used my information for her so she could have a license- she is also chipped to me, even though she has always been a daddy's dog. But at 16 years old it will be hard on her.
We have been having one crisis after another here every day.11 -
Well mums house might be empty but that’s because some of it’s in mine 😆
so today I started to tackle the stuff that’s in the spare room. I’d baskets of stuff for other people so I’ve got all their addresses today , found some big envelopes in amongst the piles and I’ll get them posted off this week.I’ve went through four boxes of stuff today. Kept some, some in other people piles and some recycled and some in the bin.A huge pile of costume jewellery untangled and in a basket to go to charity shop. Will put the big jewellery box up for grabs ( free)
feel I’ve done quite a lot today .8 -
hi everyone
hugs to anyone in need or who just wants a hug
I've decluttered my FT job for the next 9 days as i'm on annual leave! Still got PT jobs and self employment to do though - but those earnings go towards decluttering my mortgage...
Yesterday I finally posted 2 parcels - one to my sis and one to a former colleague who retired on ill health. The gifts have been in my room for about 6 weeks, now on their way ...
Today I bought a small vintage L/Loom type box to store blankets in for my bedroom. Although it's an extra 'thing' it will help me be more tidy and organised.
DD2 has gone through her books and we have a pile for the CS and another pile for selling on z!ffit, I did identify a DVD box set but realised one disc was stuck in an old TV! Finally got it out but realised i hadn't actually finished watching so i might try to watch the remaining series this week then sell it....

The shredathon has continued slowly over the weekend. Most of the papers have been gone through now so it’s just a matter of getting them through the shredder.
Several admin tasks done and the skirting in the bedroom and wardrobe is now clean. The plastic boxes holding my clothes will fit in the wardrobe so OH can bring them over tomorrow for me to sort through and put in the cupboard. No need to unpack them all now we are planning to move.
Will also bring over some of the tinned and packet foods that he has been storing for me so I can improve the variety of what I am eating plus reduce the amount we have ready for the move.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅8 -
I think I may be very slowly winning the decluttering battle. Kids have made a mess as usual, but as we have got rid of lots and put lots into toy rotation, I think it’ll take 5 mins tops to clear up! Still got a few areas to tackle and will just keep going through the areas that stress me out the most.
Very minor win, but I’ve found a soap bar I can use as body wash, face wash, hand wash and shampoo. When I’ve got through my probably years worth of backlog of bathroom stuff, I am stupidly excited to be able to have one item to do many things. I won’t use it for hands as that would be very expensive, but it’s good to know I can and useful for packing light for holidays.
A few more things gone as I was tidying up and also lots of bed linen to go as we are not replacing the spare double bed we got rid of and will instead get two fold up singles for guests.

Hi all, today I have decluttered something
We went to visit OHs sister, daughter and dil who were doing a carboot. We took with us a wii and games that OHs sister had given us and we have never used and a couple of those shoe holder things that hang in your wardrobe that had been loitering on the landing for months. I gave the wii back to OHs sister and the shoe things to the dil. Dil had only just hung them on her clothes rail and they sold. We didn't manage to sell the wii but it has been left with OHs sister to take to another carboot she is doing in September. I didn't want any of the money just glad to get them out of the house.
Unfortunately on the way back to the car I had a failed gravity challenge and landed quite hard on my right knee that is already a bit suspect after cartilage surgery. It seemed ok, just a bit sore but after driving home, about an hour, it has siezed up and is now quite painful. Gel stuff has been applied and I am resting on the bed as I can't get it comfortable on the couch
Take care everyone10 -
been through some more art folders, some paper to recycle, another notepad with bulldog clip, and some for me to look at, couple of things listed, and files put away. 12809

I feel honoured to be quoted @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
It is a strategy that has saved my marbles again and again as I got olverwhelmed. I don't care that it never gets finished, just that I got started.
Blimey @weenancyinAmerica. That a lot to deal with and no doubt most days are like this. Its a wonder you get anything done.
Congrats on the decluttering of the job @Deni_debt-free_dreamer
Another two bags out today as we (DH and I) visited DD with all the things she forgot to take when she moved out on Wednesday. She is settling in nicely and has got the landlord to soert out most of the problems. She took us to the local community garden and tearoom. We were totally blown away and will visit as often as I can, e.g. every visit.
DH spent more hours sorting out her technical things. We left her reassured that she is going to be ok.
