Sat down.....was going to do some reading. Just took a quick look at MSE...half an hour later I am all caught up🤦🏼♀️ and feeling inspired to start more clearing , although it won't be until tomorrow. My other dog has had an upset tum all week and I have been up several times a night and am totally exhausted. Went to vet this morning..she assures me he will be fine tonight ( was getting better anyway) and still cannot believe doggie number 2 is still with us and seemingly doing well.
So in Dorset I have done some clearing in my MIL house. My FIL was an engineer and had lots and lots of tools. These were left when we inherited the house as we did not know what to do with them. My sister lives near where you can donate tools to Workaid for Africa. Most of them were on the accepted list so we put them in boxes for her to take home. I found two engineers drawers which I am hoping to get restored and I will give to my children for Christmas and kept a couple of nice looking bits to go in them.
I also packed up some beer glasses as someone on free cycle wanted some that I had already promised away and some tea sets which my sister also took to give to a CS. She is buying this house off of me and I will be sad to see it go as it is 5 minutes from the beach and so relaxing to be there. I have to be practical though as I lose money keeping it empty. If I wanted to live there I would need a bigger house anyway, so my children can visit. She has given me a list of the furniture she wants to keep which is quite long so there will not be as much left to clear as I feared. AS the house is three and a half hours away from where I live it is quite an effort to do it.
Hugs to everyone who is having a hard time out there...sometimes RL sucks but bit by bit we will get there x
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D9 -
@Suffolksue Yep, that's where I am. I visited Gainsorough's town once many years ago but I've done quite a bit of walking in the Dedham Vale and Stour valley. Lovely area.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedFriday & Saturday have been unbearably hot especially for DSis - she is missing the house in France (thick stone walls & stone floors) & being able to go somewhere cool. Although of course in winter you had to wear 10 layers of clothes to keep warm 😱 The sum total of my efforts has been to write a shopping list for DH & send him to sm - where even he has noticed the steep increase in prices 😉 The sun didn’t help the stained white shirt so it is now soaking in a bucket of cold water with white vinegar 🤞 Dinner both nights was salad. Wudupa x 2. I have cleared down 2 more series: Christian - Italian series with subtitles which I have thoroughly enjoyed - interesting concept AND finally watched Killing Eve - least said soonest mended ☹️ DSis & I have just watched the last 2 episodes of Murder in Provence which we thoroughly enjoyed. Now have 83% available recording space 🙂1221 - 1227 Kitchen recycling x 2, drinks cans x 2, plastic bottles x 2, cardboard packaging - recycled1228 - 1231 Kitchen detritus x 2, ood food x 2 - binnedCongratulations mhagster, you have worked so hard 👏 You should be very proud of yourself 🥲 Enjoy the gardening with your aunt 🙂
florianatwobob, how typical that now you have the new freezer the old fridge/freezer has revived itself even before defrosting 😉 It was obviously sulking because it had to work too hard 🙂
Ah yes QueenJess but at least they are 2 adorable gremlins 😊 and you have already started training the 5 year old in “The Ways of Decluttering” 😉 Getting through boring cleaning & tidying jobs IS decluttering so excellent work 👏
What a kind post Wildrose 😊 Excellent work on keeping up with the day to day stuff 👏 I agree that too much heat is draining - saps the energy right out of you 🙂 Forest fire sounds very frightening Wildrose 😟 Very pleased to hear that your son’s friend is OK must be such a relief 😮💨 What a sad state of affairs that people have no choice but to live in the forest 😔You are welcome bit_by_bit 🙂 Also thanks for the reminder re state pension - another task to add to the ever growing To Do list 😔 I had to quote the following as it is such a brilliant idea 👏 “So whilst away laying on the beach in Devon last week I did one of my mega lists of all the things that need doing/thinking about.Yesterday morning I did a chart with everything on it; breaking every room/task down to manageable bits then added some more. I do this periodically. I never complete it but I feel some sense of control.
On it I have included things like the house but also other stuff. My MiL and FiL need more input and I can't do it all so I have spoke to DH who had agreed for DiL in debt, if she is willing, to earn some doing some cleaning (plus Nana gets to see the baby). Financial stuff is on there too as well as plans to travel still, do up my camper.
Importantly DH is on board with all my plans and is always willing to help or do his bit.” Excellent decluttering 👏
TC77, might be slow but progress is being made 👏 Hope you find some way of getting into the computer files 🤞 Going through thousands of photos is definitely a winter task 😉Floss, Great suggestion for TC77 👏 Great decluttering 👏 but shame about the extra cash outlay 😔
Your post piqued my interest SuffolkSue - so 10 minutes of googling, forgetting that I have already lost one post 😬
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 Always lovely to get compliments 😊 Thanks for reminding me about Andrew Mellen - I will finish my post & then have a little look/listen to him 🙂 Sorry I can’t help with your numbers - the last note I have is 1015 on page 302 ☹️ Well done on dealing with such an important frog 👏teachergirl, sorry to hear about poorly dog ☹️ but pleased to hear now on the mend 🙂 Excellent decluttering 👏 Good news that your sister is buying the house - saves estate agents fees - very MSE 🙂Sounds beautiful Wildrose 😊MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

@Suffolksue so you probably lived relatively close to me and are familiar with the forest, heaths and fighter jets. I suppose you still live relatively close to me, actually.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger I am hopeless in heat, I usually blame my genes which are mostly from a cool, green country. Early mornings are my only realistic chance to Get Things Done, then it's a case of surviving the heat then recovering from surviving the heat and doing a few simple tasks.9 -

Just a quick check in as I have been awol taking a short break with DGCs to my DDs. Driving was fairly awful in the heat. Funeral of DB this week but he may get a send off with thunderstorms. Then visitors. DS2 has been doing my bathroom so lots of money decluttered but mostly one thing in and one out. I bought new towels so need to get rid of old ones although using lots for paddling pool at the minute. Odd things round house need fixing - eg cupboard hinge etc

noticing a little more space and optimistic fingers crossed!8 -
3415-3418: 150 emails and 1GB data deleted (and a bit of a digital tidy up)
3419-3421: 3 bags of rubbish out
3422-3433: items to recycling
3434-3463: items to bin including a quick sort in the fridge - it's going to need defrosting before the delivery folks arrive tomorrow. And then I have 24 hours without a fridge, I still have to wait 24 hours before the new one can be switched on but that will be clarified tomorrow.
Have been busy doing laundry and hanging it on every door frame hoping it will cool off the rest of the flat.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
