Hello all, I have been awol again as my health has taken a bit of a battering again which had a knock on effect with my MH. I have given myself a good talking to as I have a lot to be thankful for.
I'm sorry that not much decluttering has taken place for a while except day to day stuff, some carrier bags and an empty diffuser bottle plus the sticks. Lots of emails and recorded TV programmes have gone too. I still have a cs bag on the go which is half full so hopefully I can get back into the swing of deluttering once I've returned from a holiday starting Sunday. This is a take 2 as we should have gone with DD and family for a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads last Nov, but DGD was struck down with covid the day before we were due to go and it was then postponed till next week. Today I have packed most of the stuff but had to supervise DH or he would have packed enough stuff for a week up Everest, as he needs abundant items for every situation apparently 😲 I did refuse to take 2 lots of insect repellent, with all the bad weather around flippers and a snorkel will be more appropriate 😂 I just hope I don't fall overboard !
Bala as bit by bit puts it, grief is unpredictable, you may start to feel better then a memory comes along and jolts you back to square one. Please look after yourself during this uphill climb 🧡
It's 8 years today since my lovely Mum passed and I still miss her on occasions, especially in the last few weeks when I felt so useless/hopeless. I didn't have much time to grieve when she died as my Dad was in pieces, so I had to take over the arrangements with the help of DH and DD. I'm still very sad about the way she passed, it was so quick that none of us had time to say goodbye so sometimes it feels like there was no closure IYSWIM.
MrsSD sorry to read about your family loss too.
Hello to all the new posters and those returning. Hugs to anyone having a hard time at present and healing vibes to the poorly ones.
Take care all

I make memory bears out of clothing items x @Thrifty_Taylor thank you , but I was suggesting it to Bala. As I felt she could use her loved ones clothing. X

Bon voyage Nan. Have a lovely time. I hope you come back refreshed.
Donna I laughed like a drain when Mr V fell over.I am still locked out of my laptop and tbh not bothered enough to sort it out! It can go on my frog list.Welcome to new joiners. This is a lovely community to be part of.I am not doing much. Well except knitting. I need to have a break from it for a while and do other stuff. I have doors to sand and paint and a garden to build.I met the lady I have mentioned before. She has filled 2 houses a storage container and is busy filling a third house. She tells me she is opening a shop. She says she is going to sell all her hoard and then sell 2 houses. I wish I believed that she will manage to do it. She thinks her hoard has much more value than it has. She is 73 btw. She has no family. 😢 I told her if she sells the house in the village I would be interested. It was her parents house.34. 2 large speakers given to Dd2 for her new
house.More stuff sold of the electronic persuasion from the shed. Yea.Vx

Everyone is right, counselling helps a lot. It's helpful to have someone impartial to talk about the person and to let off steam.
Take care xx11 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedWednesday stayed dry but very breezy until about 2:30 p.m. when the sky darkened & the rain came, on & off for the rest of the day together with a very strong wind. I went to sm managing to avoid the rain & get home. Picked up some pasta & tomato purée, a few other bits + all (bar 3) cards for birthdays from April to September. I also treated myself to a new small roasting dish, a medium sized frying pan - both heavy duty & a set of measuring cups. Yes I know, I know - I am supposed to be decluttering but I did bin a rusting small roasting dish 😉 Having bought the cards I spent the evening writing, addressing & marking with a posting date - one belated Friday frog dealt with. Although we still have no date for the bedroom carpet delivery, DH has started on taking up the carpet & underlay & nailing/screwing down the creakiest floorboards🙂 Hm soup for lunch, sm breaded chicken, mash & the last of the frozen mixed vegetables for dinner. Wudupa.
Thursday has started bright & sunny with a breeze. After missing a week, the recycling men turned up & emptied the rather full recycling wheelie bin. The rather pretty stray? cat that frequents our garden managed to dash past DSis when she opened the back door & charged into the lr 😡 Fortunately she managed to get him/her out again before it managed to get upstairs 😥 DH has had a coffee & has resumed work in the bedroom. I have washed one load of clothing & am just putting the 2nd load in.
241 - 246 Kitchen recycling, office recycling, drinks cans, cardboard box, 2 plastic bottles - recycled
247 - 252 Kitchen detritus, 5 large strips of carpet & underlay - binned
253 Damaged roasting tin - Tip bag
I have decided to do a blanket cheerleading session (The EDT is definitely in express mode 🙂) Excellent decluttering/dealing with frogs by everyone but especially the following declutterers who have each earned a medal 🏅- GrannyKate; balabooberlies for sterling work in helping mum & brother; Guineapigsqueaks & Floss.
However, I would like to welcome OrganisedMe aboard The EDT 👋 Love the name & the intention 👏 You have made an excellent start - decluttering, dealing with Frogs & identifying your sticking points. You are fitting in nicely as a supportive member of our Decluttering Family 🙂
I am devoting the rest of this post to confirming that we are not just on a Decluttering thread - we are a family. Remember decluttering does not occur in a vacuum 😉. A huge Thank You to everyone who has shared their lives regarding the loss of parents. Grief is such a personal thing and as many of you have said there is no right or wrong way to deal with it. My dear dad died suddenly in his mid thirties - I was 14, DB 12 & DSis 8. My abiding memories are that my darling mum fell to pieces & that on the day of the funeral I made sure Not to cry, to be strong for mum & my DB & DSis. However that backfired as afterwards I shared mum’s bed for a couple of weeks & one night was accused of not caring as I hadn’t cried. It took years to get over that one comment even though intellectually I understood but was not emotionally prepared. Fortunately I had my paternal grandmother to talk to & a lovely man who became our stepfather came into mum’s life. Having someone to listen as we grieve & reminisce seems to be the only tried & trusted way to get to a place where we can continue to live rather than just survive. I count myself blessed that we have all met each other here and can offer each support even if it is virtual rather than physical.
On that note I will sign off.
Hugs to all my extended family
