@TheCraftyForager - I too downloaded that book - thanks to whoever recommended it - and my key take away was exactly the same! It was exactly what I needed for this phase of decluttering ! Looking at my stuff through that lens has given me new motivation to let things more things go. Glad you had a lovely holiday 😀2022 Decluttering Campaign 39/104 🏅⭐️
Judge each day not by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds which you sow.14 -
No proper decluttering to report, but I did my exam so I feel a bit mentally decluttered!
I've also decluttered a bunch of meetings out of my diary over the next 2 days so that I can have a couple of "easy" days at work before the madness starts up again.16 -
Some decluttering done today including;
recycling out
1 x pencil where the lead keeps breaking
2 x small rulers
3 x magazines
random bits of floating detritus

Finished my homework for my on-line computer classes for the week (2 classes) and sent in my reports on the Friends of the Library Board to the big Library Board. So two items off my frog list for today. I go through current magazines and just keep some of the articles, pictures for possible paintings, and recipes. I have gotten good about keeping them filed. The only magazines I really keep are the ones I collect from World War II and some of the needlework magazines.11

Thanks to those who clarified the like with like idea, I'm going to give that a go as I have a weird shaped house so I have more than one location for most things otherwise I spend a lot of time going up and downstairs. That might do me good though so I'll try some like with like tomorrow. Feel a bit rubbish tonight, need to sleep but too jittery.Magnolia Stellata13

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedTuesday has been dull & cold 🥶 Hm soup for lunch - not one of my best but perfectly acceptable. We are finally connected to Community Fibre - 9 times faster than previous broadband 🤩 Batch cooked 1kg mince with onions, garlic & carrot. Dinner was the last of the pork for DH & DSis with oven chips, baked beans & fried eggs for DH & me. Wudupa.

You should feel proud of yourself Suffolksue 👏 dealing with SKY, probate & Premium Bonds - daunting ☹️ but you persevered 👏 An absolutely ridiculous way for PB to conduct business 😖GrannyKate, that sounds absolutely ridiculous re SKY - I take it that it was an automated system 😞 Great decluttering & decision making 👏Thank you for the comprehensive explanation Siebrie 👏 Not too sure about the last bit though 😉How brave bit_by_bit 👏 Good luck with clothes sorting 🍀Excellent decluttering TheCraftyForager 👏 I did have a wry grin at “visitors are coming, shove everything in a box’ school of tidying!” comment 😁 Been there, done that 😂 Another recommendation for Decluttering at the Speed of Life - I really must investigate 😉Fingers crossed for a great exam result, GeorgianaCavendish 🤞

Morning all. I watched a few of the "decluttering at the speed of life' utube videos. some good ideas but not sure I could go with her idea of decluttering stuff in situ - ie not actually emptying shelf and putting things back afterwards but sorting where they are and pulling out rubbish and things in wrong place. I guess it can be a good idea for large areas like a cupboard or a room where you may not have time to put everything back. Part of my decluttering strategy is to clean as I go as well. I think we just have to take on board things that work for us individually.
Yes Mrs SD that was SKY's automated system.
210 Main bedroom and ensuite cleaned and tidied - small bits of carp for bin. A few things returned to their proper home straightaway. Cleaned inside of windows and mirrors.
211 Dressing gown out as I never wore it. To wash then put in CS bag. I rarely wear one but I kept DH's nearly new fluffy one which is much better.
Will try to tackle the other two bedrooms today and main bathroom. Plus a few small frogs appeared although in box completely empty yesterday afternoon. Everything dealt with, filed elsewhere or deleted. I also emptied sent box out.2025 Decluttering Campaign 665/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

@thriftycrafter, the post about craft stuff comes under the idea of keeping things for “fantasy self” I think most people have items they keep for some vision of themselves as someone that doesn’t exist in RL 😉 wether that is of a person who does wonderful crafting ,baking or as a person who goes to garden parties and dinner dances so keeps lots of floaty dresses and elaborate evening gowns and fur jackets ! But rarely has time to do anything certainly no time to sit and craft or who lives in jeans and sweatshirts. So we suddenly become realistic and then we can release these things more easily.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.16

Hi all, thank you all for your kind words regarding Poppy my cockapoo pup, I’ve come a long way in 10 days and am now doing much better. I still have some wobbles about it but I am now feeling calmer and even starting to enjoy it. I can see the positives for the future and I think everything will change once she is toilet trained and we can take her out on walks.
I have even managed to do a bit of decluttering! I had some gift bags on my dressing table with Christmas gifts in from friends that I hadn’t got around to putting away, so I put them in their new homes, put a couple of them in the charity shop bag and stored the gift bags for next Christmas. I am now starting to feel less guilty about giving gifts away that I have received if I know I will not use them, I always appreciate the thought that goes into everything I’m given but not everything I will use, and I’m sure that’s the same of some gifts I may give to my friends. I also sorted through some bags that online shopping came in, I tend to keep them in case I need to send anything back so they’ve now gone in the recycling bag. I also posted off some Christmas presents that were meant to go ages ago and returned a parcel so small wins but I will take them at the moment!
You might already know about this but I saw in an email the other day that you can donate clothes by post to British Red Cross, you pay a small fee and they send you a bag, you then drop that off at a local Collect+ store. I thought it might be useful if any charity shops aren’t taking donations for any reason or you don’t find it easy to get to a charity shop but might be closer to a Collect+ store. Here’s the link: https://giftshop.redcross.org.uk/products/free-donation-bag
marrob thank you for your kind words, funnily enough after you did that post my MiL turned up with scones!
Baxtersmum thanks for your words, it’s good to hear. I can definitely see how things will improve in the future and how it will be a good decision in the end. A dog walker is a great idea, I’m glad you are getting some time to yourself!
2Scratters yes the breeder told us we could take her for a walk if we hold her so we might do that, although we are having good run-arounds in the garden now. Your words reminded me of my grandma as she had a Yorkshire Terrier and used to pop her in a bag sometimes
