Ramouth said:Pets are such a worry! Our cat had a severe breathing difficulties last weekend and we were preparing ourselves to loose her. Thanks to our excellent vet she pulled through and is just going to need lifelong care for asthma but it was very close and I don’t think I have quite recovered from the stress of it yet. Also totally sympathising with the tablet giving anxiety. Our previously trusting cat now runs and hides if she sees us both in the same room as she thinks we are going to give her a tablet or take her to the vet and it’s breaking my heart. Keep telling myself that the calmer I am the calmer she will be. Thank you for sharing. It helps to know others are going through the same thing sometimes.
I've had a lovely ramble and catch up with my friend 😊 So nice to be out in the sunshine, and I've exceeded my steps goal for the day too 😊
Just waiting for a phone call from the vets - they were sending extra tablets for Bessie - ah, they've just rung and said they've not actually gone in the post yet 🙄 Quite annoying really since I also rang yesterday, and the woman was convinced they'd been posted and went off to check the tracker and never got back to me 🙄
Hey ho. I think we've run out so we can all have a reprieve for this evening 🙄8 -

Aw Cheery. Sorry you're having a tough time. I do echo what the others have said about using the strike to have some down time. I know it's not what you need financially but it may be what you need mentally.

Thanks all 😊
Currently VERY annoyed about Bessie's medication. Spoke to the vet on MONDAY - she said to give her another week of antibiotics, and said she's get them straight in the post. I had enough leftover from a previous chicken who sadly died before she could finish the course, so I used those.
Still not arrived Thursday, so I rang. Receptionist said they'd been sent, but she'd check the tracker.
Still not here Friday, so rang again. Oops, looks like nobody put them in the post after all 😠 So they went in yesterday.
Went out this morning, and just got back. Looks like they've arrived - but they've sent them 'signed for' without telling me, and while the usual postie would have left them anyway, the new idiot one has taken them back to the sorting office. Which is now closed until Monday morning, as is the vets, so she's going to have to miss two days worth as I've got none left now 😠
Very vexing, but literally nothing I can do about it. If I'd realised we were going to have to sign for them I would have stayed in - but saying that, the postie has never NOT left stuff here before, so...10 -
Oh, and Avanti has sent a letter saying our LPG will be increasing 8.1p a litre effective immediately. That would take us to 52ppl - which makes me immediately glad we signed the contract several days ago to fix at 50ppl for the next two years...
Just sent a pile of doughnuts through Just Eat to my nephew who is 16 today - love ordering cakes to be delivered to other peopleAlthough currently wishing I had one myself - no chance of a takeaway out here though.
We have already been to a cafe today though, so not exactly deprived. Not our usual one - one I've only been to once, and Mr Cheery not at all. It won't replace our favourite, but it's got an excellent view and a nice enough flapjackAlso had a potter round a local market town, Mr Cheery got a few new bits of clothing, and we replaced the kettle, which has been smelling rather alarmingly of burning plastic. Just got an £18 one from Wilkos, which was the cheapest they had.
Going to make a nice cup of tea with it, and then get myself out into the sunshine and stop fretting about things! Got some washing to peg out too.

That is very vexing indeed.

£18 for a kettle 😱!
(You can tell I'm still at the "pre-kitchen-replacement" stage, and just go for the cheapest of everything 🤣)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!11 -
I know, I did think that myself! But it was the cheapest one in there, and I confess I was in no mood to be traipsing round everywhere looking for another one 🙄 Bought one for Mr Cheery's dad recently that was the cheapest in whatever shop we were in (Home Bargains maybe?) and that was £13 so I figured £18 wasn't tooooo outlandish...11

Blimey! Our last electric kettle (Tesco Value) was £5 along with the steam iron (used twice in maybe 15 years - I stick to the old solid plate one and a damp cloth) - anyway, I donated it to the V-Hall. We use a stove top kettle. It reminds me that when DS moved out into a shared house, he did not know about electric kettles and they all laughed at him - until he was the only one who could cook a roast dinner, at which point his value in the house soared!
