Thank you all 😊 Yes, one thing we are not short of round here is views. I can't even show you the best one as it's too distinctive and easily recognisable 😂
Chilly today! I've spent some time outside, fixing on my new scythe blade and cutting another row of grass. Not really the usual time of year, but I want to get the last of the tufty old grass out of that field before the new growth properly starts.
Also spoke to my mum, nipped out for some milk, hung some washing on the line, and got some granola ready to go into the oven - I'll do that later along with some other stuff, want to make the most of the light, even if it is rather cold!
Started a new audio book from the library so I reckon another hour of that will get another row cut, and then I might be ready to come back in and warm myself by the oven 😂9 -
Well,as expected, the house insurance people have ditched us 🙄 They don't like the footpath or the derelict outbuilding. Fair enough I suppose. Never had this issue before I hope it's because I picked someone cheap, and it was a broker I think rather than directly with an insurer, and they obviously get people signed up first and ask questions later.
Anyway, they are keeping the policy valid for a couple of weeks, which is good, and also means that next time we renew it won't be the same week as the car insurance
So another job back on the list, not for today though.
In other news, the LPG people are happy with my photos and have sent the document to sign - will check and confirm later.7 -
How annoying about the house insurance people! Not sure what they were expecting with insuring a country house with landLive the good life where you have been planted.

How annoying re the house insurance and what a glorious view!
Be good to have the house and car insurance apart though time wise..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Lovely to have such views but what a shame they are a pain to insure!
Our home and car insurance are also very close together - it used to be a matter of a few days, there will be a week between them now, since the move. It always annoys me, but I'm not sure why allowing that the money is always there and saved for them well in advance!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I do 'hurrah no council tax' and 'boo my car insurance for Feb, and then 'hurrah no council tax' and 'boo car tax' for March.
much sympathy on the insurance front. Hope you get is sorted as painlessly as possible.
we have a little 1l car (which is £20 to tax hurrah) that is for the DS to practice driving in, as they are now at the ready to pass/fail tests stage, and I was fretting at how much the renewal was likely to be. 10% increase. I've never been so happy about a £600 bill before, I was expecting closer to £1k after all of our collective recent increases. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thank you all for your sympathy!
Well, I have had another productive and focused work day 😊 Albeit rather frustrating at the end as I had to travel into the office for a single hour to do something for someone else that could ONLY be done today 🙄 Rather a waste of my time, and lesson in saying no next time.
Still, I am home and fed now. Back in the office tomorrow though, and the first of two leaving 'parties' this week 😕 We're losing a whole raft of colleagues at the minute and it's all rather upsetting. Still, I've made a wholesome lunch for tomorrow, and the day after, and have meals in the freezer ready for tea when I get home.
I've been pretty cheerful the last few days, but feeling a bit of a sense of being burdened tonight 🙄 So I'm going to nip it in the bud and focus on something cheerful. Going to get a batch of flapjack in the oven, and busy myself checking dates and ferries for our trip to visit our friends 😊 Then I might do a bit if sewing while listening to my audio book 😊 and perhaps some flyte playing. All purposeful activities, some from my list, but all a bit more cheerful than just 'sign the LPG form' and 'do another boring trawl of the house insurance comparison site' 🙄11 -
I wonder if the sense of being burdened is partly a time of year thing, as I’m feeling it too! 🤔😉😊
How come so many colleagues are leaving at once?Hope you had a restorative evening 😊
