Great news on the vouchers and the loyalty points Cheery 😀. Hope you have a restful weekend xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!8 -
Thank you all 😊
Gosh it's been a busy couple of days. Lots of important stuff at work, and I took yesterday afternoon off to take Mr Cheery to a hospital appointment (ongoing stuff) so worked today instead - supposedly just the morning but I've only just finished 🙄 However, that did include an hour in the cafe with a friend at half 3 (scheduled to make sure i finished early 🙄😂) and doing some more work on my promotions form to send off for someone to look at, so not as bad as it sounds.
Those Boots points were burning a hole in my pocket yesterday so spent some 😁 Stocked up on razor cartridges, and replaced some make up- mine has been on the verge of running out for a long time, and is such cheap crap it needs replenishing about once an hour. Nice lady caught me looking at the No7 stuff and directed me to the same stuff in their clearance aisle so I got foundation, mascara and lipstick for £5 each - more like what I'd usually pay but for nicer stuff, and of course it was all on points so essentially free!
Update on granite: they're not coming on Monday. Mr Cheery is adamant he wants clear epoxy, they reckon theirs comes out 'milky', he's not satisfied with that, and I just cannot be doing with the stress of acting as a go between any more, so he's doing it himself, I'm washing my hands of the whole thing 🙄
Nothing else to report I don't think. Must get on the case with checking house and car insurance - might do that over the weekend, but priority is promotions form, and we're going to Mr Cheery's dad on Sunday, so it might have to wait. I'm fine with the renewal quotes I think, they're all cheaper than last year, I just know that one car auto renews and the other doesn't (why?) and the one that auto renews is attached to an old car, so it'll bounce if I don't change it.
Didn't make it to the gym - I might book swimming for first thing tomorrow and see about going after. Otherwise I won't have made it at all this week!
Right, Mr cheery has run me a bath, so I need to take advantage 😁15 -
Have a lovely weekend.
Remember SEX for your promotion form (DH used it with sixth formers for their projects) - Situation, Example, X-factor outcome - the so-what bit. I used to read them (as well as doing them) and always writing "so-what?" on people's formsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Ha, thanks SL, not heard it put like that before!
Some progress made on the form today. Definitely feeling better about it this time round (I first attempted it 2.5 years ago on advice from people at work and very much did NOT feel ready). Not entirely sure I feel properly ready, but I probably never will, so there we are.
Anyway. Cafe breakfast today - we're settling into a broadly once a week routine which is good. Popped into town - my prescription was ready, which was efficient, since I'd only ordered it on Thursday. I popped to the gym, and spent the rest of the afternoon inside working on my form, but we did nip to Aldi this evening to pick up some stuff for Mr Cheery's dad (and some booze for us)
Nothing else to report I don't think. Still not sorted the house insurance, or the car insurance. Not batch cooked anything today - I think I'll roast some veg and make a batch of cous cous when we get back tomorrow night (or on Monday when I'm working at home).
Plans for this week revolve around promotions form. Work should be marginally less busy - the unusual task that's taken a lot of time and energy for the last couple of weeks is mostly done with now. Still plenty to do, but I'm hoping I'll be able to catch up with myself a little, and won't have to work into the evenings. Mr Cheery's dad's tomorrow, but not next weekend.
That's it really! Might check banks now, but it's getting late so I might just wander round diary-land for a bit instead...15 -
Oh - another money thing - the replacement cheque from the power cut arrived today, so that will be £215 to add to February funds.
I've just checked, and we won't be getting the £150 council tax payment as we're in Band E. Interestingly, the government website also has us down as 'mixed use', which it defines as 'a residential property also used for business. For example, a shop with a flat above.' I think I knew from when we moved that we were 'mixed use' - in my head it had something to do with it being useable as agricultural land. Anyway, not something I'm going to add to my list for the time being - but at least I know not to expect a cheque in April.
Oh! And we'll be going on strike again at the end of Feb/beginning of March. Yawn. So that'll be five days of pay lost. It's likely they'll spread it out over several months like they did last time, and I'm grateful it won't tip us into hardship, but it will mean I'll have to adjust savings plans (and yes, I'm grateful that's all it means - unlike the people on the rubbishy contracts that we're striking for).
Not done a single bit of MB so far this month, I've been tired all this week. Must get back on the case!16 -

I was thinking via an app too! Mine doesn't do it on the app, but it will take cheques at the cashpoint, so I can still pay them in 24/7 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
