Right, need a list for today. Working at home, Mr Cheery is out this evening, so this will mostly get done then, but if I don't have a plan I'll end up working late and drifting through the evening...
* washing on
* washing hung up
* workout
* update meal plan
* batch cooking and get some meals in the fridge/freezer for the week
* flylady home blessing
* flute practice
* ring my sister
* order at least one present
That'll probably do. Can overlap some - will ring sister while I'm cooking, and hopefully generate present ideas for her family so that will help!5 -
Just popped over to hear the dentistry discussion.
I am a big sweet eater - had 11 fillings by time I was 20 something. However I do have v straight teeth as I had a brace. Plus all my fillings are white and stay in just fine..
I am now the owner of 2 implants due to a crown collapsing (the dentist had overdrilled) at the beginning of covid so couldnt get it fixed. and used the opportunity to get another tiny one fixed
So on a recommendation I went outside London to a v good dentist - about £5k for 2 as I needed a special drill which catches the root and gets mixed with your own blood to make stem cells for your teeth.
Either way they look great and I am v pleased I had them done...nearly 2 years ago now - I do now floss every day before bed without fail and had no issues with any fillings since .. so I suspect its my sweet eating that caused the issue.

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

😂😂😂 Certainly not just you! 😂😂😂
Although I have got into some good habits from her over the years. I was just thinking yesterday that one thing I've managed to consistently do that makes a huge difference is an evening routine - every night I pack bag for the next day, put clothes out, make breakfast and dinner (and often decide what's for tea too).
I realise plenty of people do that without Flylady 😂😂 But flylady is what got me into doing that consistently.
I do also regularly do her home blessing podcast - I almost know it off by heart now 😂😂 Makes me actually spend an hour going round and tidying up, and surprisingly, it does make a difference!
I do have the (free) app and some days tick off all the routines etc, but not many 😂5 -
Mr VH has an evening routine for his work things, but after a year of working from home and then my current maternity leave (plus WFH during Covid) I don't really have one. I'll need to develop one though as I can't be running around trying to make my lunch while one us tries to feed DS at the same time etc!

Yes, I can see that wouldn't be very efficient!
I do tend to get things ready even if I'm working at home (although I don't usually make breakfast in advance in that case).
Back to the dentist for 3 fillings today 🙄 Except they only did 2 - the third is in the tooth which is holding a bridge, and she reckoned the minute she started drilling, the bridge would ping off 🙄 Not causing any trouble, so for the time being I'm leaving it - but I'll need to decide what I want to do about it 🙄

I like Flylady and she talks a good talk, I somehow am unable to walk the walk.
I have picked up a few good routines and she has reinforced some I already had, but for some reason I never get it all working at the same time.

I have briefly dipped in to the flylady thread on here over the years and it's made an utter transformation for a while, but not done that for a bit now. I am finding it far simpler to keep the new house clean and tidy though - I suspect as much as anything because we gave everything a home when we moved in, and so far have both been pretty good about ensuring that things do get put back where they live. The front room is a dream - because we just go in there to read, or watch TV, so anything that gets taken in there also gets brought out again, and as a result of there not being "stuff" on surfaces etc it's so fast to just whizz round and dust it...
I find Flylady a bit rigid for me, I think is the issue. I like the idea of it, but the practice doesn't seem quite so friendly!
Evening routine is also an interesting one - I do set clothes out each night, that happens without fail, even usually at weekends in fact. I also usually have a quick tidy around the living room/kitchen and ensure that anything that is obviously out of place gets either set down ready for MrEH to stick in the DW (part of his evening routine) or moved to where it should be...🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just popping in to say there's an Octopus savings session at 5-6pm today if you haven't seen it! Apparently we saved 78p in the last one 😁 I've signed up for this one, but I'm at work and won't be home by then, and Mr Cheery hasn't felt very well today, so while he'll turn lights etc off and unplug the laptop, he probably won't switch the heating off too. And there's a good chance he'll forget by 5pm anyway. Hey ho.
I now have Octopoints worth £1.40 - it all helps I suppose! £300 in credit with them, which at our current DD rate is 5 full months of bills - I may claw some back if we're still that far ahead after Christmas, and add it to the LPG fund.5
