Simple living in the country - back to basics

I must say I am a big fan of dehumidifiers. Also of heating in all rooms. I have not forgotten my first house 1969 new build. No central heating back then. Only 2 bedroom & everything in the second bedroom got mould on it. Within the year central heating fitted everything thrown out (well almost) definitely not going anywhere near there again.

Our dehumidifier is currently living out in the office for the simple reason that is where it got put on moving day, but I should probably consider bringing it in soon and running it in the spare room just to see if it does pull anything much out. As I think you know we struggled with damp issues in the flat from time to time, particularly in winter when drying clothes indoors a lot, so I’m definitely stranger to that thing of sniffing clothes to make a decision on whether they are wearable “as is” or if they need to go back through the wash!Glad to hear you have a relatively laid back weekend planned - that sounds like just the thing after the stressful time you’ve had lately!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Can anyone recommend a half decent dehumidifier for less than £100?I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Beanie - it's more than your budget but if you could stretch the Meaco dessicant DD8L works a charm - has a life of about 3 years so this time round I took out the 5 year warranty.
Kept our old damp Hopkiln conversion dry and mold free, dries cloths in record time and now keeps the damp at bay in the extension on our victorian terrace. I don't know how we'd live without it.
Cost of the dehumidifier and running costs are less than replacing things destroyed by damp and definitely less than having to deal with moldy wall damage!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Beanie One thing to think about if you decide to get a big one is the weight of the full water container.
I have a big one and the full water container is heavy to lift from floor level. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.6 -

If you can afford one with a cutoff at a certain humidity it saves you having to watch it. I agree about the water container. It isn't just about the weight of it, with mine it is because it is near the floor & you have to slide it out then lift it up basically from the floor.
