Agree completely with EH - you've got to concentrate on the essentials for now. It sounds like you have some lovely colleagues though, which definitely helps when you need to disappear without notice.
Hope Mr C gets some answers soon and whatever it is can be easily dealt with.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Edwink x4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!3 -
Thank you all, your good wishes are always very much appreciated 😊
Well, today was excellently executed, if I do say so myself 😂 The drive in both directions was uneventful, Mr Cheery and his friend accomplished their mission successfully, and nobody ended up in hospital 🙄😂
And I met a new MSE pal, the lovely @ElmoR who selflessly gave up her office for several hours so I had a quiet place to work and to host an online event I've spent a lot of time working towards, and that I absolutely did NOT want to mess up.
Thank you again, so very much 😊 Your kindness allowed me to have a nice calm day, and to not worry about Mr Cheery all day, allowed him to keep his arrangements without being worried about driving on the motorway by himself, and basically allowed my whole day to run smoothly. I won't forget your generosity in a hurry (and I can only apologise for accidentally making you buy me a coffee, how embarrassing!) 😂
And now it's the weekend, and I am SO flipping ready for it! I won't be doing a single jot of work (although sadly I will have to do this blithering job form 🙄). Mr Cheery has a hospital appointment (for something completely different to the latest saga 🙄) in the afternoon, but outside of that, here's a vague list:
* banking!
* cafe breakfast
* workout
* possibly strim front garden (no idea what weather is doing)
* investigate someone else coming to strim garden 😂
* washing
* job form
* flute practice
And we'll see whether anything else gets done outside all that.12 -
wow Cheery that's quite a list for a no work day!
My 'no-work day' list includes:
*finishing a spot of work that did not get done because I had a lunch meeting and a coffee meeting yesterday - LOL
*going to our closest town to have a lunch that will satisfy a month-long craving for authentic Caribbean food
*doing groceries & dropping off supplies to the front door of a friend who just tested positive for covid
...and that is it for today - I'm sure there are a hundred things I could/should/would do if I felt like it...
...but I don't 🤣🤣🤣

Well, yes, I very likely won't get all those things done, but you know I love a good unrealistic to do list 🙄😂
So far I've spoken to my sister (it's her birthday), put some washing on, identified some more mouldy clothes 🙄 and now we're in the cafe 😂
So will need a mould-extermination mission this weekend I think. Some things can be washed, but there are a couple that are proper furry 😮🙈 Outrageous. Need to just have the dehumidifier on up there as standard for a while I think, especially while it's so wet.
Think I'm going to investigate a heated airer too 🙄5 -
I love an unrealistic to-do list too Cheery! Hope you're enjoying your cafe time. The mould doesn't sound good at all. Dehumidifier sounds good, as does heated airer, but remember the airer will need the dehumidifier too in such a damp spot.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I had a wardrobe that was on an outside wall that always made the clothes feel damp. I found it helped when there were fewer clothes in there as the air had space to circulate. I also had one of those damp trap container type things in there which I regularly changed.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I know, I may not bother with the airer, it's just a knee jerk reaction this morning and we've previously dismissed it. Realistically, it's been REALLY wet here lately, that end of the house faces east and doesn't get much sun because of the trees, we've only recently started putting the heating on, and we've not used the dehumidifier upstairs regularly at all.
I suspect now the heating is on every day, we'll be able to get on top of it, especially if we get the dehumidifier rotating through the different rooms, and cull a few clothes each so there's more air circulation.
Home now, and I've actually got off my backside and done a workout! Felt good (and warmed me up nicely 😂). Heating is on, Mr Cheery is having a nap so I'm going to do a few quiet things
