Oh, and speaking of parking - I didn't have a permit today, but I've just checked and someone's returned one, so I've booked it.

I can totally see how I ended up with a fine as the same thing happened today - I selected 8am - 6.30pm (standard day), clicked on the available one, and when I got to the page to fill in the car details, it had defaulted to 8am-9am ๐Ÿ˜ก Clearly this is what it did last time, and because I was in a rush, I didn't notice it had changed ๐Ÿ˜ก

So I might try to quibble, although I'm pretty sure they'll tell me I should have checked, which is also true... Today's has been double checked, and I'll check again when it's printed!

...This week is feeling fairly relentless and Wednesday hasn't even started properly yet! ๐Ÿ™„...
Cheery - I feel your pain - I'm ready for the weekend already! - Sending good vibes your way for getting that pesky application out of the way!

I was invited to 'volunteer' to participate in a study yesterday at what I think is your uni, and I for a brief moment wondered if it was you :)

Another crazy wfh day here - I have a new boss/manager and it's always hard going these first few months - doubly so now that I spend half the week working from home!ย  Luckily I've worked with new boss when we were both in previous rolls & I'm lucky that we get along on a personal level.ย  Still does not make it easier for the day to day!!! & tbh honest my last boss is a good friend as well & our days were filled with banter and laughter, so it's a bit like going through a break-up :( and starting a new relationship all at the same time - LOL

He - What are you doing up reading? The light is keeping me awake
Love the fact that your light was keeping him awake

Two of our sofas can pull out into a bed so one of us often ends up downstairs if they can't sleep so as not to disturb the other one. ...
Haha - we do have a sofa bed in the other room which is also my study/office & a sofa that I am small enough to fit on, but neither of us is really inclined to leave the comfiness of the main bed and relocate - LOL - you'd think after 17 years we'd have adjusted to sharing, but honestly it only gets worse - if I'm up early for work or he's up late watching tv, the other ends up in the middle of the bed taking up ALL the room!
As to the issue of light...he loves blackout curtains and I like to be woken by natural light - it's been a constant battle - again for 17 years - lol - our last house had the perfect set-up as the main window on his side of the bed had dark curtains & the window on my side (different wall) was a small thin one, without a curtain that I'd leave a crack open 365 days a year!
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)
(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)
    ...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)
New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)
Psst...I may have started a diary!

Yes, I'll try to do that today. I suspect I won't get anywhere- you book parking through the university system, but it's the council that fines you ๐Ÿ™„ However, we might at least get the system changed!ย

Anyway, a more immediate concern is that I twinged my back again this morning, leaning over my desk to cross something off a chart on the wall ๐Ÿ™„ I've taken two lots of painkillers, and have had a wheat bag on it for a couple of hours, but it's still sore and I'm struggling to move properly.

Of course today this the one day the downstairs loo is out of action, and there's no lift in here ๐Ÿ™„

  • Oh no - poor you. Honestly back pain is SUCH a nuisance, and so easy to re-aggravate too.ย

It's a bloody nuisance! I've fortunately been mostly free of it, but I've had a few episodes in the last few years, usually when I've done something specific, like a parkrun after not running for months, or twisting when turning the compost. Today I literally just leaned over my desk a bit! Most vexing. Trying not to tense up and make it worse, but it's not easy.ย

I'd be tempted to go straight home and get in the bath, but that involves driving for an hour so I suspect won't be an easy job! Trying to keep walking round and hoping it eases off through the day ๐Ÿ™„
