Thanks Beanie, and glad you are similar to me starnac ๐๐๐
I confess my final prediction was correct, and I did in fact submit at 4.55pm ๐๐๐ We didn't squabble though, Mr Cheery was very calm and helpful and supportive all afternoon ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
I can barely move ๐ 3 days of being glued to a chair working late into the evening after twinging my back has done me NO favours at all. Necessary on this occasion, but there we are.
Heading out now for a walk, and maybe a drink. We've missed the cafe, might have to head straight for the pub ๐3 -
Heading straight for the pub sounds goodย Cheery! ย Enjoy!2

Well done for getting it done - and I think you know how resoundingly Iโd vote for heading straight to the pub! ๐๐ MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 ๐ And now we go againโฆNew mortgage taken 01/09/23 ๐ก

Thank you all ๐ It's not a big prestigious bid, it's internal money, and annoyingly the change at the last minute means they won't replace any of my other duties, so it's a project I'll have to do on top of everything elseย which was NOT my original plan ๐ก
However, it will mean I can work on an interesting project with another organisation (effectively a part time secondment, although we're not calling it that), it will get me some of other people's time, plus money for travel etc (not exciting travel, just London ๐), catering for events etc.
So the last minute change makes it rather a less attractive proposition as it means I'll have to do it on top of everything else ๐ But my job does have a degree of flexibility, and a couple of other projects are coming to an end over the next few months, and this is worth squeezing in I think.
They'd best fund it now after all this effort - I'll be very cross if not! (Although I suppose it will make life slightly easier if they don't ๐)
Anyway, rotten nights sleep sadly, although I went to bed early and have only just woke up so I think I've had 8 hours overall, just in quite a disjointed way, and with a good 2 hours of being awake at 3 30am ๐
Still, at least there are no plans for today other than a leisurely cafe breakfast ๐ which we're not going to get a table for it we don't go very soon!9 -
Yay to getting the bid in. Hope the outcome is what you want and what will benefit you.ย

Thanks starnac ๐ With my longer-term career head on, this is a good opportunity, so fingers crossed. I'll have to be ruthless about saying no to other things though...
Spotted another job the other day... ๐ essentially exactly the same as mine, but somewhere else. I was very annoyed on Thursday and ready to bung an application straight in ๐ย
But we talked about it in the pub last night, and I'm not going to. It's very much a sideways step - it would be the same money as we're on a national pay scale (although I'd have to work full time, so would get considerably more of it!). I'd have the advantage of a couple of years of rose tinted specs before I became aware of all the usual office politics nonsense ๐ and I do like a bit of novelty ๐ I know a couple of nice people who work there.
BUT it's considerably further away - 4 hour round trip rather than 2, so very tiresome to do in a day, so it may end up with hotel stays, and of course I'd lose my Fridays off. I'd have to teach, but not the same stuff as now, so that's a considerable chunk of work to get up and running.
So, nice to feel capable, but it's not for now. There are considerable advantages to where I am now, it would have to get a LOT worse before something else outweighed it. It's very convenient working in the same city as most of our friends, dentist etc.
Anyway, in other news. Did a Prolific study last night, the money cleared, but the study wouldn't disappear from the page, so I declined it, because it wouldn't let me opt in again, and it removed me altogether and removed the ยฃ2.36 from my account! ๐ก and of course there's no record of who the researcher was, so can't contact them, very vexing. Still, up to ยฃ15.46 cleared in there, and just tipped over ยฃ14 in 1P so hoping for a payout this month (or next month anyway).
Happy wheel is rubbish - on about minus ยฃ7 for Sept I think ๐6
