Ooh lovely KK (the garden centre, not the aspirin!) I'm not even thinking about the garden yet, too frightening a prospect 😮
Decision made, I'm doing the ceiling. I can go to the gym before/after work in the dark, but I won't get another chance to paint the ceiling til next Saturday. Also tooth doesn't hurt today but is a tiny bit sore and I don't want to make it worse with jumping about and whatnot.
Right, best get dressed then I suppose. Might have Joe Wickes pancakes for breakfast first 😊12 -
Cheery - think you are wise about avoiding the leaping about. The increase in blood pressure does make tooth pain worse ..... I speak from experience <shudder>
Also, painting is still 'activity' and you get to look at your lovely fresh ceiling all week!

Thanks KK 😊 Well I've started the ceiling, but there's a lot of faffing about finding all the equipment again. And of course I did the first coat before Christmas, and left my paint pad thinking I'd get straight back to it, so that's now had to go in the bin 🙄
Still, I'm all set now, and have started cutting in round the edge, and will finish it this afternoon. Fortunately this side of the room the ceiling is so low I can reach without a ladder so that makes things easier 🙄😂9 -
It'll be worth it when it's done. And you've reminded me I need to get some painting stuff out of the garage as I'm replacing a bolt on the front door, and the new one isn't quite the same as the old one...10

Well done on painting the ceiling Cheery. You'll be chuffed to bits when it is finished.

Have you any trees on your land or round your garden? When I used to have chickens, I found that a couple of chickens preferred to be up in trees to roost. I guess they felt safer there. Is there a chance that Bunty chicken may have roosted in any trees?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

It's possible, although we've not got many and we've searched through the ones we do have as best we can, in both daylight and dark. This will be the third night she's been out, and no sign of her in the days either. We've had her for 18 months and she's never shown any interest in a tree before so it would be quite out of character!
We did another sweep of our outbuildings, and a good rummage round the neighbour's ones as well (he's 90, very deaf, and I could see through the window he was snoring in front of the TV so didn't wake him up 😂), and the ones by the abandoned house nearby. Anywhere else and she would have had to walk over half a mile, which seems unlikely since she's never bothered to go even to the end of the drive before.
We've let the local farmer know though - he's out and about a lot and knows everyone so will keep an eye and ear out for us.
I know there's an outside chance she's still around, but at this stage, having looked everywhere we can several times, I think it's going to be easier if we accept she's gone, and then we can be delighted if a miracle occurs. We'll make sure there's always water out and the porch is open though in case she ever does find her way back when we're not here 😕
Bit of idle MB done this evening, made a grand total of £1.52 before I got bored and gave up 🙄 Painted a little bit, but I was losing the light, and the second coat of white on a ceiling in artificial light is impossible.
Mr Cheery made us tea using the cous cous from the fridge, and there's leftovers we can take tomorrow. Still need to use up the tomato sauce with some pasta, maybe Monday if it's still ok by then (or maybe I'll just shove it in the freezer so it can stop staring at me!)
Two prolific studies popped up earlier, so that was another £1.26.
Trying to decide how to account for the MB dosh at the end of the month. Normally the monthly subscriptions come out of the MB float (separate account) and if I make any money, I withdraw it into the main account. If I lose any though I don't replace it, and I haven't been accounting for either that or the subscriptions, which means the MB float has just been diminishing over time.
Clearly barring something very exciting I'm going to be in minus figures this month from paying the subscriptions annually, so trying to decide between options:
A. Take the negative amount off my total extra income for the month, and transfer the same amount from the current to the MB account
B. Take the negative amount off my total extra income amount, but let the MB account take the hit and leave the other extra dosh in the current account
C. Ignore the negative figure, record the rest of the extra income as usual, and let the MB account take the hit
Hmm. I'd usually go with C, but actually A feels more accurate, and therefore more satisfying, and that way any extra from MB I make for the rest of the year will be properly extra now all the subscriptions are made.
Of course I might make another £165 on MB in the next week but it seems unlikely at this stage 😂10
