😂 you're right, of course! And the kitchen fitters have been good, but they realistically can't arrange a specific day for us (but they CAN receive a complaint of course). They do want to get things resolved - they've done a fair bit of assuming it's all sorted now because they've not heard for a few days...
I suppose the worst thing is that they get annoyed with me and come and do a rubbish job and I get stuck in an endless loop of having to sort it out for the rest of my life 😮🙄😂😂
Still not rung, still putting it off...11 -
Do. It. Now. Cheery! You know you'll feel better once you have... and the fitters probably aren't the dragons they now appear as in your mind - I bet they're reasonable human beings!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi Cheery, I'm so sorry to hear about Bunty chicken
I have lost cats in the past and understand how hard it is when you don't know what happened.
Have you phoned the kitchen fitter yet? You are entitled to have the job finished off properly. It's not as if you are expecting something for nothing, you paid to have a decent job done. It's not difficult!

How to avoid an endless loop for the rest of your life 😂:- decide how many times you will call/email to sort the matter out (I use the 'three strikes and you're out' rule)
- make sure the communications outline what the problem is, what's happened so far and what you want to happen now to resolve things. Also agree a reasonable timescale for resolution. (Do not apologise - you have nothing to apologise for.)
- send one formal letter explaining that you're going to take court action which will give them a period of time to resolve things
- start the court process
- either the company will suddenly be able to resolve the issue for you - hurray! Loop interrupted 😁
- or the court will decide - hurray! Loop interrupted 😁
- put off contacting the kitchen company 😆
Would the above burn your bridges with them - yes. However, would you need/want to use them again in the future?
I'd suggest leaving any negative reviews until after all is resolved one way or another as, once they're out there, there's less incentive for the company to put things right.
However, I'm a bulldog about these things as it really grinds my gears. Do what you have the energy for/is best for your sanity. I'd hate for you to feel nagged 😲 We are all just cheering you on.

Wow, Fortune - amazing series of posts you've written for Cheery and for all of us really, very special.
Cheery, I was exactly that way with Sainsbo Mastercard when there was that fraud on my account recently, so I do understand it. Sometimes it helped to schedule action on a day that already felt like sh1te because of something else that was supposed to happen. You'll find your way through in the way that's good enough for you. Sending positivity.2023: the year I get to buy a car12 -

That's kind of you to say Karma - thank you.

Thank you again Fortune, and for the rest of you for supporting too xxx good suggestion of scheduling on a day that something else was already going to happen KC!
Had another chat with Mr Cheery about it this morning. He's completely lost faith in their ability to do the job properly already, and at this stage is not up for giving them another chance - he'd rather do it himself than risk it being done badly again.
He's very aware that (a) he was the one who had an issue with it in the first place, I would have just left it as it was, and (b) he is NOT the one who would be doing any ringing round or emailing...
We'll have one more discussion tonight - and then yes, Fortune, I'll be doing what I have energy for. I confess I have spent a LOT of time in the past few months mustering the courage to talk to people about things that I myself would have just lived with, rightly or wrongly, and if on this occasion Mr Cheery is offering to provide a solution, albeit in the form of doing it himself, then that might be my favoured option.
We'll see. Like I say, another discussion first tonight.
But before that, I need to finish work and get my backside to the gym!13 -

Thank you all xxx I am indeed far too hard on myself sometimes!
Anyway, decision made - Mr Cheery is going to do it. It might not be done til next year, but it was always him who was bothered about it anyway, so, whatever. I've emailed kitchen geezers to let them know I'm disappointed with the granite guys but I'm fed up of messing about, so effectively they've got what they wanted by ignoring me til I went away 🙄
Anyway, not adding that to my list of failures this week - as far as I'm concerned it's now off my list and onto Mr Cheery's, which is where it should have been in the first place. I am gleefully never going to talk about granite ever again!
Work today, in the office all day. Didn't get a permit, but I did get here early enough to not have to pay for a space. Brought lunch, and picked up some milk on the way in, and a multipack of cereal bars so I'm not tempted by the vending machine (yes, I'll get round to making snacks at some point but today this was the better option).
Nothing else to report. Didn't do Monday Finances last night so that'll shift to tonight instead.
Hope you're all good. Fortune, I have filed away your advice for future reference - please don't think it has gone to waste! 😊16
