Interesting indeed! I go through phases too - I'm in a phase of wanting to build income & savings a little more right now (although I'm sure hard-core folk would tell me i could better build savings by curbing our cafe habit! 🙄😂)
QMee won't last long i don't think. I get seduced by the idea of a £5 payout, thinking I can reach that pretty quickly, and then I forget how much annoyance that £5 causes me 😂3 -
🙄 Family event has reached the 'arguing about politics' stage 🙄 In my family, we'd all have strategically steered the conversation back on to gardening by this point, we don't like conflict 😂 Sadly Mr Cheery's family do not feel the same way... 🙄😂7

Oh dear - can you somehow look at your phone and excuse yourself to deal with a work emergency? I've used that strategy in the past to bring over running meetings to a close - gets you out of a sticky situation gracefully - lol4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!3

Ha, Mr Cheery would have seen straight through that - I NEVER check work messages when I'm not at work 😂 I did take all the plates to the kitchen ( other quite one at a time 😂), and then went out to clear the back seat of the car so we could give his dad a lift home. I was sharing a lot of eyebrow raising with the other woman in the room 🙄😂
Anyway, we're on the way home now, and I feel considerably more cheerful having now eaten something other than cake for the first time since breakfast 😂4 -
Right, home now.
Financial things to report - 5 hours worth of diesel for a start. We bought a friend two rounds of coffee in a cafe, so roughly £15. Spent about £25 in the supermarket, £10 for Mr C Snr which he gave us back. He also gave us money for his phone bill (which we'd told him not to, but he'd insisted), and for Mr C's birthday, which will pay for his most recent musical purchase.
Happy wheel down £3, standing at £44
Prolific at £24.56 with £1.02 pending, same as yesterday
1P at £6.90 (no idea what that was yesterday).
Had quite a LOT of insect bites yesterday when I was scything - they weren't bothering me yesterday, but today has been quite warm in various houses and they're now quite irritating, so I'm off to find some soothing lotions and potions, and then I might read my book for a bit 😊6 -
Morning chums, and I'm afraid it's an irritable one so far!
I've got SO many insect bites from the other night's scything 🙄 Arms and face and neck are littered with them. It's usually too windy for the little bitey things, but it was very still that evening. I often get bitten, but it rarely bothers me much - I think just sheer volume is making this lot rather irritating! I'm going to investigate antihistamines at lunchtime I think 🙄
Stopped off at an organic farm on the way to work to buy some free range eggs. Delighted to find some in stock, filled 2 boxes, came to £4.40 but I didn't have change so put £5 in the box. Got back to the car, and something was niggling me... turns out they had a 3UK stamp on, which is the label for caged hens!! 😡😡 I've bought eggs with stamps on from a farm gate before, but they were at least 1UK which is free range (and it was quite a big farm, so I just assumed they had their own holding number).
I put them all back, wrote a grumpy note for other customers, and posted on social media 😡 I'd like to think it was an accident - but I'm not sure what type of accident would lead to that! Very cross, and I'm now £5 down and still have no eggs!
Then I got to work and realised I didn't have my make up bag 🙄 Minor in the grand scheme of things, but I'm having lunch with someone important who I've not met in person before, and I'm not going home again before Mr Cheery's gig this evening. So I'll end up re-buying everything in town before my meeting I think. Not the end of the world - it will all get used up eventually anyway, but quite annoying!
Still, I have the office to myself, and the most important job this morning is printing and putting things in envelopes. Not normally a job for me, but the other person is on holiday and it needs doing quickly. Going to put my audio book back on I think and see if I can cheer myself up!
Hope your days are off to a better start...5 -
Hi Cheery. Sorry to hear you're having such a trying day. I would recommend Tamanu Balm for your insect bites. I use it and find that it takes away all of the itching and you can reapply it as often as required. (It's also useful for scratches, burns, eczema, etc so handy to have in the first aid kit) It comes up on the website with the 60ml cost but there is 20ml size too and it lasts for ages. Plus, if it doesn't work for you, you can send it back free within 30 days and get a refund.
(Full disclosure: I am a Tropic Ambassador but there's no personal benefit to me for this post just know how awful insect bites can be - lots of horseflies in the Shire 😲)
I'd want to have some makeup on for an important meeting too. I used to keep an emergency kit in my desk at work along with spare tights and portable curling tongs... ok the curling tongs might have been overkill 😂
Hope your day improves.

Thanks Fortune 😊 I'll be nipping into the chemist in town today but will investigate your suggestion for the future. I make my own calendula balm which is usually sufficient, but isn't touching whatever got me this time!
Pleased to say the farm has responded on social media - they buy their eggs in and hadn't realised these weren't free range 🙄 So carelessness rather than outright deliberate deception, although it's a pretty easy thing to notice with the symbol printed on every egg... 🙄 Wonder how long that's been going on for?! Anyway, I won't be stopping there again anyway - I'm looking for somewhere that has their own free range chickens, not somewhere that is buying in from a supplier in another county... 🙄 The search continues! (And yes, I can ask around - but I'm looking for somewhere I can stop off regularly on my way to/from somewhere, not somewhere I have to go out of the way for, so I shall continue with my trial and error approach!)5 -
How frustrating about the eggs Cheery - not good at all, even if it was carelessness/accident rather than intent.
NHS 111 recommend Benadryl for bites - because if it's not enough, you can take another one/two within the same 24 hours.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
