Charity Shopping - New to You in '22!

Oh and another thing in the lastest rumage! Our town has two branches of the same local hospice charity shop. One proper, and one that's a £2 all items clearance outlet type store (I love it in there....)

There's been a full length black jersey ('beachware'-but it's kind of thick) dress from NEXT in the proper branch for a couple of months but at £8.50 I was a bit put off bothering. Last week though, it was in the £2 shop, with the old tag still on it. Much happier only paying the £2..... I would feel guilty about giving the charity less but, I donate loads and buy silly amounts of stuff from them so I'm not going to worry, I'm still helping them.

So I declutter regularly to my local charity shop but have yet to buy anything…… until I took my LO age 4. She picked up 6 books, knights, horses and unicorn theme, and a crafty sewing project all for 3.5

She is delighted with her haul 😊

Brilliant! This is wonderful canny parenting - she can have pretty much whatever she likes from a cs but toy shops have price limits. She can have the electric green tights from a cs but clothes shopping your taste trumps. (There will be uniform in the future. Get the rows over with early.) Then when you want to see the floor, you clear everything up, redonate it & wait.... Plus your eco credentials are near bombproofed.
If her eye really sharpens, applaud her spotting the cashmere & wear it proudly...

My kids (five and nearly four) love going CS with me, we got a toy Dyson vaccum recently for about £3, at least £20 new and this still had working batteries in it as well!

Ooooops, guess who forget to bookmark the new thread?!!!  Doh....thought you were all having a spend free January!

Anyhoo, my first spend of 2022, in the Hospital Trust Support chazza I got a pair of M & S dark brown pure wool trousers - loose fit with pleats into the waistband and turn ups.  Priced at £4 and lovely quality fabric but someone had done a really bad job of shortening them so I spent some time this afternoon re-doing the hems....  Not finding much in the charity shops lately....just old tired stock.  Thought peeps might have been having a clear out over Chrimbo but if so nothing much has filtered thro yet....not even an unwanted B & H gifty box of smellies!

@Miró I was expecting the same but there hasn't been anything that has caught my eye. Yet.

My challenge for this year is to have a net loss of clothing over the year.

I buy almost all my clothes in the charity shops plus have lost weight since the summer so there has been a regular and necessary stream of additions to my wardrobe recently, but it is equally easy to pass on things I've shrunk out of or just don't like so much since they didn't cost much.

I accidentally bought three things in the very first visit this year: a Phase Eight batwing jumper (c£75) for £3.50, a Tu jumper (in the same shade of orange as a Cos skirt I already have) for £3 and a Banana Republic puffball skirt (c£50) for £2.50. 

(In my defence I have also released a pair of Diesel jeans I picked up for £2, so although I'm technically +2 it's not as bad as it could be!)

A lot of the chazzers near me have been closed since before Christmas, and this weekend will be their first Saturday for donations....

I noticed a distinct lack of gift boxes of lotions, potion, and soaps in the shops this past Christmas.   Maybe this accounts for the lack in charity shops?
