Charity Shopping - New to You in '22!

If only I had a layer of cats!!!  My most beautiful Ariadne did her last trip to the vet's over a year back and due to all that's been happening I reluctantly agreed not to rush out and get a dozen replacements.  We do have a few feline friends that come to call but only one likes to come in the house and he's not too eager to cuddle.  Maybe in another year to two....  (& so much for being massively insensitive - that applies to junk not cats I guess)

I miss having cats too. Growing up, there were always cats but DH is allergic so there haven't been any for years. Ariadne is a lovely name for a cat.

I went to drop off a bag of donations yesterday, but didn't look around as I was going out.

I saw that a pop up Harp charity shop has opened on London Road opposite Chalkwell Park. Apparently someone from Eastenders officially opened it, I had no idea as I don't watch the show. We were looking for a TV unit in there today, but there was one for £120. Pretty steep so needless to say we didn't buy it.

This is a temporary thing, co-incidentally I noticed the Harp in Southend High Street (also expensive)has now been replaced by a big cafe / community space. The Harp outlets in Westcliff seemed to be reasonable but I haven't visited them for a long time now. I cannot say the one in Southchurch is good value.

Did the St Luke's hospice shop open up btw?

I walked past one of the local charity shops last weekend and noticed that they had a mans coat for sale for £80 (no brand name), and they are usually one of the lower priced shops. I know we are in an area with lots of tourists and eBay hunters for resale (usually they come down for the day as an older population = vintage), but the average person here can't afford to spend that on a coat regardless of the cost per wear. 

Our shops are very savvy when it comes to vintage or high quality goods which is not a bad thing for the charity as they benefit. If it is a well known designer (they had a no of Hermes scarves donated) it goes straight onto an auction site.

I just went to a local charity shop. It is quite foggy again here.

I was getting dressed to go out Saturday night and I thought I would like some more black jumpers as I realised I only have black roll necks I got a sparkly black Tu jumper, a black Next jumper, a red M&S Collection jumper and a Lands End red polo neck from the chazzer today.

I bought some xmas decorations too as my tree is arriving today. I got two xmas stockings, some star shaped ornaments and a "Let It Snow" sign.

Oh yes, I also got another butterfly jewelry box that matched the other one I bought from there recently and a folder for paperwork. That all came to £13 which was a bargain.

We were in Harrogate today and had to investigate the charity shops though it was pouring down. I got a ball of yarn in shades of pink and beige for £1 and a River Island lambswool jumper for £6, both from Scope. The jumper is a gorgeous soft wool but I'm going to have to have ideas how I wear it as it's cropped and has elbow-length sleeves. It was just too luscious to leave behind.

Grass green textured towelling  bucket hat from H & M (for next summer - or perhaps a winter holiday) £2
Green with white polka dots jersey Boden suminer dress £1.75
Silver colour light but dangly earrings £1
Rose gold leather M & S moccasin loafers, look unworn £4.50
Tray with winter and a flower fairies type woman in greens and yellows £1.
I also got some black velvet jeans but they don’t fit so will have to go back.
A huge pile of donations is building up on my spare bed.

Got a few things yesterday:
a black & gold sleeveless dress. Label cut out but has a very well inserted invisible zip and care tag siay 'made in Italy'. 
a teal short sleeved dress by F&F.
£2 each from Air Ambulance 
a butter-soft short leather jacket with silky leopard print lining by Biba. £4.00 Barnados.
Will wear dresses with opaques and DMs but probably my Maudie ones as they are a bit dressier.
