Was this a recent article, or an older one? There was an Ofcom net neutrality ruling 2-3 years ago that network operators couldn't discriminate like this.dsingh26 said:... but I read somewhere that tesco sims only work on mobile devices - not routers.

Scroll down to FAQ and it says:
'You can use your Tesco Mobile unlimited data for personal use in mobile devices. You can’t use it in a home router for home broadband.'
That's abit !!!!!!..0 -
I should think that the rule limiting use in mobile devices and for "personal" use and not in a home router is to avoid abuse of their network by families hogging all the bandwidth by streaming and game playing.
IMO if you are going to use it in a home broadband environment rather than on an" ad hoc" basis then you should really get the appropriate sim which has been configured for intensive data use and is potentially routed appropriately within the ISP's network.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
So the cheapest O2 unlimted data sim is £34/month?0

Late reply, sorry! yes, I only have mobile bb as adsl is so slow & no fibre here. I played around with the router location and found upsatirs at the back for me gave me 5 signal bars on the router and a decent speed, so not looked into external aerials so far. Good luck with your installation, whatever you end up with!dsingh26 said:
That's amazing, well done!flashg67 said:I have only 2mb via landline so used a 4G Huawei router (£50 used on ebay). Testing different sims showed Vodafone to have he best signal, so I now use a Lebara unlimited sim for £25 p/m which gives me between 25-70 mb down and around 8mb up, depending on the time of day. It's been a good solution for me, working from home, streaming and running several smart devices.
I'd ignore the online signal checkers - all the providers said I'd get a good signal, but only Vodafones was really any good in reality. Depending where you are, you may be able to get a wireless provider - member list here - WISP internet providers, UK: Members list of UKWISPA
This definitely sounds like the ideal option for me.
I'm just waiting for my Vodafone sim to arrive, I really hope the coverage is good! I've also enquired about WISP as they have a Leicestershire provider.
I guess you had ADSL before, but now completely transitioned to mobile home broadband?
Also, Do you have any antennas/signal boosters with your router?

Lyca mobile? Go Unlimited - Lycamobile0

Hi flash! Apparently the Lycamobile unlimited data isn't true and capped at 100GB!0

Not sure why you have posted this. This is only of interest if you are intending to use the sim abroad?dsingh26 said:Edit:
EU Roaming Cap 20GB
Home data allowance can be used in EU/EEA roaming. For more information on EU roaming and to view Lycamobiler’s fair usage policy visit.
Is there any alternative guys?

Ah right, I must have misread.
Still though, I believe there is a cap after 100GB which doesn't work for us.
What else shall I do?0
