The lady at Virgin spoke to my mrs and told her about digging 14m, which definitely sounds like FTTP. Why wouldn't they offer me FTTC, maybe the cabinet is full? Is there a way of checking this?
Because VM don't offer FTTC, you need one of the providers that use the Openreach network. Try Now Broadband, Talk Talk, Vodafone etc.

    Have a look on https://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/
Whenver i do this, it shows all providers and great deals however when I click on the deal and enter my address it then realises and says fibre is not available. Vodaphone are recommending the 4G/5G Gigacube but not looked into it yet.

I want to get this sorted today if possible. As most people know my current situation, what is the best solution for me?
That all depends on the service you're trying to get. If you select a Fibre service then of course you're not going to get it, you have to select one of the FTTC services, usually advertised with speeds of 38Mbps+ or 64Mbps+.

What happens when you enter your address here: https://www.nowtv.com/broadband#ib-section-section-2

Entering the address here, does it show available or waiting list , if it’s waiting list, then VDSL is available just currently no available ports ( so as soon as OR provide more capacity or someone ceases their service off that cab, a port opens up ) if it shows available , then it is obviously available, perhaps the ISP you are asking thinks you want FTTP ( not FTTC ) and it is true that FTTP isn’t available , perhaps you can post the entire image from the checker.

He's already done that above. It's established that VDSL is available in his area.

Yes but it’s not the full image , so the waiting list/ available to order section isn’t shown .

Thanks, that makes it clearer now. It looks like all the available FTTC slots have been taken up, so for any speeds higher than ADSL then I think you have no choice but to go down the 4G/5G for the moment. Hopefully the fibre rollout shouldn't take too long.

Whereabouts in the country are you? Are there any alternative fibre providers in your area?

Hi Neil, I knew this would be the case :(

Is there not a way they can add an extra FTTC slot for our property, or anything I can do from my side to give them a push?

I'm based in a very small village in Leicester called Narborough (LE19) and honestly, I've checked everywhere and can't find any provider offering fibre, only ADSL..
  • If the fibre cabinet is full, you are out of luck, they cannot magic extra connections out of thin air and it's highly unlikely they'll install another cabinet in a small village.

You only options for now are basic ADSL and hope someone gives up a fibre slot or mobile internet.

    What a nightmare!

I've just spoken with someone on the BT chat service and been quoted £27 per month for 9mbps guarantee, with the option to upgrade for free when available.

As you can see above with NOW TV, they can guarantee 9.6mbps for £18 per month which seems better.

What would you guys recommend I go for?

I'm just worried that if we go for this and once up and running, it can't even manage the devices we have in the house and I'm stuck in a contract.

What do you get from the MSE broadband tool?
Eg. there's a Shell ADSL deal that could get you that same 9Mbps for £15.99pm plus an automatic £40 bill credit:
    N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.
