I think flies and heat sadly seem to come together, We have similar problems. I suspect an aerosol flykiller will probably help but some people don't like using them.6

How about the old fashioned fly paper strip of sticky stuff? Don't remember seeing many bees ever getting stuck on it.Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

We once had a piperstrel bat stuck to a fly paper so never used them again after that. We'd hung them up for a weekend while we were away and there were so many flies about.5

We use the magnetic mesh curtains as we also have the door open all day. Hardly any flies ever get in.Spend less now, work less later.5

For the fruit flies I did one of the home made fly traps using an old plastic bottle cut in half, top inverted down into the other bit and then taped, then add washing up liquid, vinegar and something sweet like honey or syrup.
caught loads… they go in wanting food, get trapped in the washing up liquid stuff and if they dont, then they find it difficult to fly out in any case as they have to fly down to get to the exit holeworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
Hello everyone
I hope you don't mind me invading on your thread, but I'm loving reading back through all the posts. I need all the help and advice I can get.
I've recently had to return to work as a support worker in a care home, after running my own small business from home since 2016. Unfortunately handmade Childrens Clothing is no longer affordable for most people, so the business died a very sad and painful death this year.
I've only gone back 20 hours a week at the moment, due to not wanting to leave dd2(14) alone in evenings (she was recently diagnosed with ocd so needs routine) and a husband who works away a lot. But it's not really enough hours to enable us to have the kind of lifestyle we've been used to.
I'm hoping to become much more frugal day to day, to allow us to save and still have a good family holiday once a year.
Sorry for rambling, but I've lurked for long enough I think21 -
Actually rosemary for remembrance is from Shakespeare. The tour guide encouraged people to take a piece of the plant outside of Anne Hathaway's cottage for that reason: William Shakespeare — 'There's rosemary, that's for remembrance; pray, love, remember; and there is pansies, that's for thoughts....9

I have several of these in my house - one in the kitchen, one in the hallway (near the bottom of the stairs), and one in the living room. I've only ever seen flies and moths on them, but I've never seen bees in the house (thankfully). The living room one doesn't collect many, but I get enough in there (mainly tiny moths) to feel I need it. The kitchen was definitely in need of one a couple of weeks ago when I got home from a week away (can't see anything to have attracted them in, but had left a window open a crack whilst away) - and while I was at work the first day it picked up dozens of tiny blighters. I've only got a few papers left now, so will have to hunt down new stock. My last few purchases were packs of 10 from A1di, but I've not seen them there in a long time.

According to my research Rosemary is for remembrance and also for fidelity.
