OP, if that us correct it might be worthwhile your mum contacting the insurance company and explaining the situation, as long as the insurance policy she actually took out was completely accurate in the answers.
No guarantees but nothing to lose by trying. If they decline to cancel the cancellation then she could escalate their decision to the ombudsman although whether they will or won't consider is something I don't know.1 -

(Last week) On Monday she said she will look on Tuesday as Monday she was busy with work. But in my excitement I was looking for insurance on many comparison sites, one after another. I did not tell her - this was on Monday.
I put in random dates for the claims she had (These are non fault claims - she has a good record of driving, no conviction of any type. These are when people sped into her without paying attention.) OBVIOUSLY not knowing what a big mistake that would be, but it was only so I can get a rough idea how much it would cost so I can surprise her and pay towards it.
On Tuesday, I double check again on a few other websites before she sat down to do it. (again she doesn't know)
She obviously entered everything correctly, and bought the policy. Yesterday she got an email saying it has been cancelled and she called up worried and they explained it was because of inconsistencies with comparison websites with claim details and mileage changes. Is she positive she entered all the details exactly right? A lot of people approximate answers thinking that if the claim was Jan 2018 or Feb 2018 wont make any difference however in these circumstances where there are also a load of other dates floating around out there because of your activities insurers are going to be a lot less forgiving.
Who did she buy from?
Are you over or under 18?
Ultimately she needs to register a complaint stating that whilst you were playing on the aggregators because young/naïve and excited etc she ultimately created one quote and all those details were accurate and that policy was purchased. That its unfair that the policy is cancelled due the actions of a (minor) third party.1 -
Yes she knows her details by heart and she has them written down so she enters it correctly every time. I am 19, newly passed. Sounds like you bought from Hastings. They have form for cancelling insurance when various options are included in quotes.
To be clear: there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting different quotes with different information in them. They are just quotes. If you buy in false info that's different but if you want to get a quote on a ferrari stating you will drive it a billion miles and your job is a professional footballer then you can certainly try. Nothing at all wrong with that.3 -
Has it definitely been recorded as a cancellation that you have to declare to future insurers? This sounds more like a "The underwriters have decided that they can't offer cover after looking at your application" than a "You have broken the terms of the policy" cancellation.
When the former happened to me, I got an apology letter confirming that it wasn't registered as a cancellation I would have to declare and a voucher.1 -
Ultimately the pair of you were looking to have your mother "Front" your insurance policy, sadly this is insurance fraud as there is no way she was going to be the primary driver of the second car you just happened to have around.
The amount of quotes you did just flagged and highlighted the issue to them.
Why not get an insurance policy for yourself in your name ?0 -

@youngman19 who is the primary insured person on the main car? Your Dad, with Mum as a named driver? If Mum is the primary insured person on the main car then her being likewise on the 2nd car (with you as a named driver) may well appear as "fronting" to an insurance company.Jenni x0 -
