Cancelled Insurance need help please.
I cannot believe some of the comments on here, people come here for advice not to be looked down on or given your personal judgement by becoming keyboard warriors. It takes a lot of guts for coming online to ask. It doesn't matter if English is their first language or not - I mean what the hell has that got to do with getting advice? just because you may have more knowledge on something, that does not give you the right to act all high and mighty and throw your own judgements - but hey if that has made you feel good about yourself then well done.
I am glad my mum has taught me how to sow a seed of kindness and watch the branches and roots spread and to give people the benefit of the doubt, we don't know the story behind them, we don't know how they may be trying to change, but to give one encouragement is all it could take to help them mentally. I am only 19 and I am glad i have this with me.

Hello Forum, I am back again for some advice
I am a new young driver. We had a spare 2nd car which me and my mum were going to get insured on. My mum said she will do everything as she had 3 non fault claims.
But in my excitement, I did some checks on insurance without her knowing.
the insurance went ahead, but a week later they said they have cancelled it because of different checks they got (my mum did not know about this at first, so she was confused when they spoke to her).
It was only when I came home she saw on my phone I did checks with guesses - not realising the detrimental effect it would have. I guess I was just caught up on the excitement.
Now she has got a cancellation in her name and has gone into depression because we are struggling so much as it is, she is a single mum and relies on her car to go to work. She hasn't blamed me just explained to me what has happened and all I see her is crying when she is alone. What have I done :"(
What can I do to make this right? She cannot afford thousands for her next insurance (for her first car she uses) it is out of the question as our incoming is less than outgoing at the moment so in debt already.
Please help and advice
EDIT:
Sorry guys for the confusion. I will explain a little more.
My mum said she will put both names on, her as a first and me as second as I would only be driving to non walking distance areas.
(Last week) On Monday she said she will look on Tuesday as Monday she was busy with work. But in my excitement I was looking for insurance on many comparison sites, one after another. I did not tell her - this was on Monday.
I put in random dates for the claims she had (These are non fault claims - she has a good record of driving, no conviction of any type. These are when people sped into her without paying attention.) OBVIOUSLY not knowing what a big mistake that would be, but it was only so I can get a rough idea how much it would cost so I can surprise her and pay towards it.
On Tuesday, I double check again on a few other websites before she sat down to do it. (again she doesn't know)
She obviously entered everything correctly, and bought the policy. Yesterday she got an email saying it has been cancelled and she called up worried and they explained it was because of inconsistencies with comparison websites with claim details and mileage changes. And what she entered, and it dawned on me that it was because of me doing random checks.

If I read this correctly, you took out insurance in your mums name and inadvertently used information that wasn't accurate - is the incorrect information the fact she has been party to 3 insurance claims within the last 5 years?
The insurance company have spotted this and cancelled it - or have they sent notice of cancellation because they called your mum and she said "I havent taken out any insurance"?
When did you take out the insurance - I wonder if within 14 days you can manually cancel it yourself regardless of the fact the insurance Co has got in first (maybe not - im just clutching at straws here to offer something positive)0 -
Confused .You took out insurance in your mothers name ??What do you actually mean by checks . a check is not taking out insurance .2
-
This is not something that you can fix.. Your mother is likely to have to just live with the consequences of your actions.1
-
Your mother might be able to get out of trouble by honestly claiming she knew nothing about the new policy. That makes it the new policy fraudulent, and could put you in a whole lot of trouble though. If she gets sorted, you are going to find it very very difficult to get a policy in your name, or with you as a named driver. Insurers will have a record of the cancelled policy associated with your name and they always ask if the main policy holder or a named driver has ever had a policy cancelled. All you can do is be up front and honest from now on and face the consequences yourself, but hopefully get your mother out of trouble.I knew someone who had just passed his test and decided to take his parent's car out for a drive in the early hours of the following morning. He was stopped by the police, because of the unusual hour, who then found out he was not insured. HIs partents rightfully said he had taken the car without consent (twoc), and that's what he was prosecuted for. He got a short ban and had to re-take his test. He did that, paid a fortune for insurance, but it is all well behind him now, and he has a good job, complete with very nice car!

Did you actually buy the policy or did she?
My reading was slightly different and that you had done a load of quotes but your mother bought using the accurate details however the insurer has been spooked by the fact that it looks like quote manipulation because of the different quotes with different facts being declared that cannot legitimately have varied.3 -
I think OP got some quotes, presumably from comparison sites but mum then took out policy in her name and the insurance company have noticed some odd discrepancies between Mum's policy and the quotes OP obtained.
OP, if that us correct it might be worthwhile your mum contacting the insurance company and explaining the situation, as long as the insurance policy she actually took out was completely accurate in the answers.
No guarantees but nothing to lose by trying. If they decline to cancel the cancellation then she could escalate their decision to the ombudsman although whether they will or won't consider is something I don't know.1 -
I'll join the ranks of the confused! OP, can you clarify exactly what happened?

Welcome
To be clear. Your mother needs to contact them as the policy was in her name.
They will not deal with you1
