Thanks Sharorn, I found your post really helpful, great photos too. I know I've got a decent wardrobe of clothes I've just got to re-think how I put them together! Accessories can make an outfit I think, and you're right good grooming is really important.
Homealone sorry I can't offer much advice either, but perhaps a good sort through your clothes (all sizes) and thin them out a bit. Definitely worth selling on Ebay, you might only get 99p but you might get more, at least it'll clear your home and help you get better organised. I agree larger ladies (and I'm one) can look just as good as anyone else if they're well groomed, it's not about your size it's how you dress, and you can get away with bold prints and jewellery. Good luck with your op and your weight loss, but work on feeling good about yourself whatever size you are.0 -
What sort of budget could you show your face with in Debenhams with a personal shopper? I have lost my way and become SOOOO boring and predictable with clothes I would love a fresh pair of eyes for some holiday outfits but have always been worried I'm going to end up spending on stuff that is not me! (Actually I've just summed up my own dilemma, haven't I?! )
You could say you are looking for a new outfit for say work, or an event like a wedding, with a budget of £150....but you don't have to buy anything to use the service....and if you leave your purse at home then you can't be tempted!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks Sharon, I love how organised you are.Great wardrobe because you can mix and match everything i.e the colours and styles.
lucy that is so true about being able to get away with bold prints and jewellery, you can really be quite extravagant whereas I find myself limited sometimes as I just can't carry it off so I would make the most of that.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Sharon, how did you get to be so organized? I really admire people who can put together a capsule wardrobe. I don't really have a clue what suits me and also keep going off things after I've bought them.0

oh dear verynewmoneysaver.
I used to dothis but not anymore. I realised the details dont matter, you just choose a STYLE that suits your body shape, GOKs web site will show you how to do this. personally i'm an apple shape so need to choose clothes which are v necked or empire line. no polo necks for example. then you pick 3 colours only and 24 items including hand bags and shoes. then wear everything with everything else. easy peezy."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
good formula zarazara it is just a case of finding what suits you and the mix and match colours like Sharon has done so well. Once you get the hang of it you save so much money, less is definitely more when it comes to clothes and makeup. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

Sharron, love what you have done with your wardrobe!
Zarazara, Gok has a website?? I love him but never thought to google him so thanks for that! Off to check it out now...
Homealone, I do feel for you. You sound pretty overwhelmed by all the clothes. As others have suggested I would keep what looks nice now and any good quality things in smaller sizes for when the weight starts to drop and put the rest on Ebay. As you are having weight loss surgery, do nothing else right now as your weight will drop quickly.
I do agree about grooming. It's really worth getting a good cut (and hair colour if you need it) and looking after your skin , nails and make-up. It will make you feel so much better!
There is no size or shape limit on style! I have always been a big girl. I went up to a size 28 at my highest which wasn't so good but now I am happy with my size 20 so I know where you are coming from weight-wise.Penny0 -
Thanks Zara, Have just done an online consultation with Gok on Channel 4 website. Very helpful. Apparently I am a butterfly shape!0

It took time!!!!! It was something that evolved out of me being totally fed up with so much clothes and i couldn't find a thing to wear. If you watched gok last night i was like that woman. My approach was very haphazard, and to be honset, as i am quiet 'vain' it got me down. Alway thinking what to wear and what goes together. I learnt that you can have TOO MUCH choice.
I started by looking at my lifestyle and what was appropiate for the stuff i do everyday, i.e running the kids around, school run, shopping, meetings at school (i,m a govener), hospital appointments with my son, occasionally lunches with my friends. I then looked at my wardrobe and realised that the 12 suites i had from my days at working where i had to be smart, were no good I also had a lot of going out, dressy clothes that i no longer needed or fitted into. I then decided on my 'style' this mainly involved casual wear with the occasional smarter item. My colour pallett is black/grey/purpley/pinky. I absoultly will not buy something thats not in my colour pallett. After my basics where in place, jeans cardis, jackets, the rest just evolved over time. Whenever i saw something that was my syle, colour pallet, and was at the right price it was bought.
It all sounds really boring, but it's not. I never feel the panick of 'god i have to buy something' and only really go shopping when i'm in need of something. I love accessories so if i want to liven up or make something look different i go ot with the thought of a new necklace/braclet/earrings/scarf. I went to new look today as my black leggings needed repalcing. I also bought a 'trendy' long shirt (sale) and a pair of earrings. I came home and put my old leggins in the bin and tried the shirt on with several other things in my wardrobe and it fitted in perfectly. I don't anticipate buying anything else this season. So my total spend this season has been £42. We are going to majorca in august, and again i don't need anything buying for then either(yes i have a capsule holiday wardrobe aswell!!!) Next season i'm planning on buying a new good quality wool coat. My underwear will also need replacing then too.
OOO i've waffled on for far too long!!
HTH SharronSometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -
You are not waffling at all, really inspiring actually. It is good to get to the stage where you go out to buy when you need not just for the sake of it. Sorry to be nosy but I am now dying to know what is in the holiday capsule:D?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30
