Thank you @Blackcats, it was the kind of Christmas day that we haven't had for a long time. I think that we're taking the things back to the HT's partner today that were left here by mistake Christmas Eve. Partner is kind and helpful but totally disorganised when it comes to personal possessions. There is always something left behind and this time it was a hand held gaming console.
I also want to do a bit of meal planning today. The freezer is packed full (as usual) and I need to lose weight to make sure that if I ever see the consultant about my knee that I'm the right weight to have the operation. It would be good if I can find some healthy meal choices for the HT who mainly exists on pizza and pasta. His partner eats plenty of fruit and veg so will be a good influence hopefully.
Take care all of you 😊

Good morning all,
The HT and I are just quietly existing in our little warm house. We're going out this afternoon to call on my best friend and the HT's partner is coming over later. We've spent a fair amount of time watching trash tv and eating chocolate but I have also cooked proper meals with vegetables for us. I have a small grocery delivery this morning which will save me from raiding the shops for a pile of things that we don't need just because they are reduced.
I was supposed to be working this evening but LAP's dad has covid so I'm not required as his parents aren't going out now. It's been a week since I've seen LAP and both mine and his LFTs are still negative so fingers crossed that LAP's stay negative. I have plenty of holiday hours so I'll just take the time as holiday - my time sheet has already gone in.
I'm hoping that HT's partner will help me put the Christmas tree away tomorrow. I like to have everywhere clean and tidy by the time I'm due back in work (which isn't for another week, yay).
Take care all of you 😊1 -
I’m taking down my decorations this weekend before I start back to work next Tuesday. Another Christmas come and gone in a flash 🙁 Hopefully the LAP won’t catch his dad’s Covid. I didn’t catch my daughter’s despite being in close proximity to her.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Sounds like you and HT have had a good Christmas break and I'm certain that any chocolate consumption will be neutralised by meals with vegetables.
good plan to avoid the shops. We went to Li*l today and browsed the Xmas section - I bought a jar of reduced mincemeat as it keeps for a long time and makes delicious bread and butter pudding. OH was immersed in the mince pies - he started the following conversation .....
"these are reduced" -
"but I don't like mince pies and nor do you" -
"but they are all butter and reduced to 40p" -
"do you know anyone who likes mince pies?" -
"no" -
"then walk away from the mince pies!"

Thanks @Sun_Addict. One person in my sister's house had covid and none of the other five caught it.1

Thanks @Blackcats. We went to my best friend's house today and despite giving the HT and his partner a truckload of chocolate and sweets before Christmas, they came back with another lot today! My shopping this week came to £35. I would never have managed that if I'd gone shopping myself.
Incidentally, we were 3 for lunch and 3 for dinner today.1 -
Hi Cranky
I used to dip in and out of your old diary though don't think I ever stopped to say Hi. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, the HT and his partner.3 -
Thanks @Spendless, same to you too.
Good morning everyone. I will be abandoning ship in about 20 minutes to visit best friend for coffee and a chat. I am leaving the HT and partner to fend for themselves for lunch. They are 17 and 18, one with hypermobility syndrome and one with dyspraxia but surely they can make a couple of sandwiches between them? You'd think so wouldn't you? I'm fairly sure they won't go hungry.....
Take care all of you 😊2 -
Enjoy your time with your friend.
The mince pie conversation made me laugh. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Thank you @doingitanyway, I had a lovely afternoon.
I had lunch made for me. Nothing complicated but it was a much needed break from teenagers. They're not badly behaved, they're just there all the time. We did some gardening and watched the garden creatures. We fed the squirrels and they're so funny deciding which nut to take and sorting through the other food in case they've made a mistake. Then there's all the fighting and chasing each other away that they do. There's a pigeon who comes after the squirrels to check if they've missed anything and two magpies were watching too.
My friend was saying that nothing was taking the mealworms last week but I told him to be patient. Today we watched a trio of wagtails take turns to dash out of the hedge, grab a mealworm and fly back into the hedge.
I've come home in a much more tranquil state of mind. Dinner will be enchiladas for the three of us and because they're teenagers I've put some oven chips in for them too.
