Debt Reset....

Good morning all. Despite saying that I wasn't making any extra payments I have paid £46.46 off my debt total to make it a nce round number. Not sure if that's it for this month or if there will be any more payments made so I won't declare the total yet.
My boss (LAP's mum) mentioned that the company that will be looking after LAP when he goes into residential care are looking for staff. I had a look last night. Minimum wage, 13 hour shifts, some of which are waking nights, up to five people to look after on your own and some with challenging behaviours. Ummm.....I don't think so. There's a home care service for the elderly here that pays £2 more than minimum wage and any challenging behaviours will be much less interesting or I can sit on a chair all day at the local call centre for minimum wage. No wonder they're always looking for staff!
I need to do a small top up shopping trip today. Some of it is for best friend who is making our lunch ( 2nd week runnning, retraining is hard when they're older but it's happening 🤣 ). He has given me some money to pay for his share so I shouldn't need to use my bank card as I also have the cash from LAP's mum for LAP's food.
Take care all of you 😊0 -
Not at all surprised that company struggles to find staff Cranky - I think the days of them being able to assume that care work is a last resort option for folk so there will always be someone willing to do it are gone now, and they probably need to get used to the idea. Not even sure it's legal to do night working on the regular min wage now I come to think of it!

That's interesting to know about night shifts @EssexHebridean - not that I have any intention of working for them. Lunch was only a bacon sarnie by the way but you have to start somewhere and I am always happy to eat something that I haven't had to make!2

Good afternoon all,
I went to give blood this morning so I took the chance to do a bit of big city shopping before everywhere goes totally covid crazy again. I bought some books for me (reward to self for going to give blood) and a book for a friend as a present from the HT. I bought the jeans that the HT has been after for ages so he's happy and on the way home I bought a litre of gin from Sainsb's because it was on offer so that's my Christmas sorted and a box of assorted crackers to go with the cheese stockpile in the fridge so that will be us happy for the week in between Christmas and New Year.
One of the best things about today's shopping trip was having the money saved to pay for it.
Take care all of you 😊1 -

Good evening all,
Not quite as spendy a day today. I took the HT out for a drive this afternoon and bought a pack of tomato seeds. The HT bought himself an air plant. I have also sorted all Christmas presents into bags (not wrapped yet though), put up some shelves in the HT's room and I've done the ironing. I've knitted a bit more of a Christmas present (hat). I'll finish it tomorrow evening while I'm babysitting LAP.
Two of us for lunch and two for dinner. It's my quiet day.....
Take care all of you1 -
Oh I love the grumpy cat 😻 The lovely people you have around you are worth more than anything you could ever possibly buy for Christmas. Priceless and that’s what it’s all about.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Good evening all,
NSD today as it's a work day and I'm adding to the coffers by minding my Looked After Person while his mum and dad go out to a party. I'm using the minding time to finish off a hat that is going into best friend's bag of Christmas treats along with a Christmas cake, some booze and some sweeties. I also want to make a hat for LAP who doesn't really understand Christmas or presents but I'd like him to have something from me anyway.
Three for lunch and four for dinner today. I don't finish work until Wednesday but I'm looking forward to a few days off that don't feel like I'm running a cafe.
Take care all of you 😊2 -
Love the thought of making something for LAP in spite of him not really "getting it"! Also love the grumpy cat in the christmas tree too! Ours thankfully used to limit her interest in the tree to sitting underneath it swiping at low-hanging baubles until they went flying across the room...needless to say the unbreakable ones always went on the bottom!
It must be said that cheese, crackers and gin sound like a decent recipe for Christmas contentment to me, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
