Good evening all,
I've been busy the last couple of days building furniture with best friend. Not only did we build it, we're still on speaking terms. I made a rookie mistake at home this morning and cut my finger on a knife whilst loooking for something in a drawer. It hadn't stopped bleeding by 6pm (but it had slowed down) so I had to go and buy some steristrips. It's been properly cleaned and stuck back together for now with a decent dressing on top. Best friend did look at it and said maybe a stitch but I'm not ready to chance A&E. My doctor does minor surgery so I'll call the surgery in the morning if it doesn't stop.
I was going to make mince pies tomorrow but in view of the finger problem I think that may be delayed until Wednesday.
I went shopping this morning as LAP has pizza for dinner on a Monday and there wasn't any in. I also bought bread and a few other things that the use by date matters for. The heavy stuff like cat litter, cat food and a few other things are getting delivered tomorrow. I filled the car with petrol too.
There were four of us for lunch today and a slightly different four for dinner. No wonder the food bill is big. I do have £60 cash in my purse though which is money that the LAP's mum pays me for his meals. I'm saving that for my haircut on Friday and any other incidentals over the Christmas break. I've promised best friend, the HT and the HT's partner a chippy tea in the week. We're going to play some games and exchange presents so a takeaway seems like a good idea. I should be able to pay for this from the money in my purse too. Still happy that I'm able to pay for everything that we've bought without adding to the credit card balance.
Take care all of you 😊

Nice idea to have a takeaway for your games/presents night. We were planning one for Friday but I've since realised that the pizza dough in the freezer and the mozzarella in the fridge need using to fakeaway it will be!
Well done on the furniture - less well done on the finger. Hopefully it has stopped bleeding properly by this morning and will start healing normally - steristrips are so good, aren't they!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Good afternoon,
Thanks @EssexHebridean, I've never needed steri-strips before so it was new territory but I'll definitely be keeping some in the house in future.
Yesterday was a very slow day until it was time to go to work. I didn't feel great but it's not covid so goodness knows what's going on. The shopping delivery of heavy things came. Two things missing but I bought them after I dropped LAP off to his parents from the supermarket next door to their cafe.
This morning the HT has made brownies. I measured the ingredients and he put them together. He then helped me to make some Malibu liqeuer - think baileys but coconut flavoured. It's also dairy free because some of it is for my best friend but it still tastes great (the HT and I road tested a spoonful each). It was a big hit with mum of HT's partner last year so there's a bottle for her too. I still feel a bit wobbly if I stand up for too long but otherwise I'm ok. I think my sinuses are acting up again.
Just mince pies and some oat cookies to make this afternoon before my final pre-Christmas work shift. I'm off for most of next week but I'm babysitting LAP one night so his mum and dad can go out.
Take care all of you0 -
Now you've got me thinking - how on EARTH have Baileys never done a coconut version?! (Maybe they have and I missed it!) I have a bottle of rather wonderful caramel coconut rum at home - it's delicious and dangerously more-ish! Your Malibu concoction sounds amazing!
Glad you're feeling a bit better - MrEH has awful problems with his sinuses pretty much any time he gets a cold. he recognises the tingle now and immediately cuts out dairy and takes tablets.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Those steri strips sound like a handy thing to have in. I often cut myself when cooking - the last time it happened the cut was quite deep and bled for ages, thought I was going to end up with stitches. The coconut baileys sounds rather nice 😋I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Mince pies done so I can tick those off the list. @Sun_Addict they're often used as closures for minor wounds and best friend who was a nurse in his past life recommended that I use them after I changed my plasters twice and he changed them once as well. I've seen them used when an ex-boyfriend and I were in a motorbike crash but I've never seen them used on me. They are very handy and very cheap little things to have around the house.1

Merry Christmas everyone. It's been a busy week here.......we dropped HT's partner home this morning then we delivered a few presents this afternoon and received some lovely gifts in return. I have been given a few bottles of gin to add to the stash and I may have broken open the "Red Devil" from the Snowdonia Cheese Co this evening - a long time favourite.
I hope that you all have a good day tomorrow whatever you're doing.
Take care all of you 😊2 -
The HT and I have had a lovely Christmas - the best since his dad died. We've seen the people that we love the most, our presents have been fabulous, we have enough chocolate to last until Easter, we've watched tv (I managed a small after dinner nap) and I even cooked a full Christmas dinner instead of just the items that the HT will eat. I hope that the day has treated you all well.
P.S. NSD for me but the HT has just made an ingame purchase.4 -
