CRANKY40 said:Don't they only replace like for like though? Our system is standard boiler and hot water tank which I hate. I want a combi and I'd prefer a Worcester Bosch boiler too. As I'm no longer funding the HT's lunches/hobbies/clothes etc I don't mind saving up and paying for it myself.
Having said that, my part time job has just become even more part time. My LAP's brother was pure nasty last night when I did the handover for LAP. I rang their mum and grassed him up - she was horrified and said there will be words as he speaks to her like that sometimes but she won't have him speaking to me that way.
Wednesday is the HT's day off college so if I don't have to be back for work we can go out for a couple of hours in the afternoon so it's all good. I have said that I will work Wednesdays if I'm needed ie if brother is away and LAP's parents need to stay in work but that will only be now and then. I'll be paid around £40 a month less so it's not going to have a big impact on my income.Sealed pot challenge 822

Hello all,
Apparently there's no grant funding available for mid terraced housing so I'll just keep saving...... NSD today as I'm working. Three people for lunch and two for dinner as HT's partner won't be here. That makes it feel slightly less like I'm working in a cafe.
NSD yesterday too. The phone call from the consultant was much earlier than the last time but then friend was here for a bit and I didn't feel the need to go out after he'd gone home. I made 12 fairy cakes yesterday morning as friend is dairy free and it's easier to make cake than it is to try and buy decent dairy free cake in the supermarket. Friend took some home, the HT and I had a couple and my Looked After Person was very happy to have a cake with his lunch today.
Take care all of you 😊4 -
I love the various combination of lunch/dinner numbers and visitors that you have.Your debt is really coming down now and savings going up. As others have said these boards are brilliant. I wonder how much has been paid off and saved by all of us over the years.3

Thanks @Blackcats, you're welcome to dine here any time. I actually do have my hygiene certificate and I used to work for Trusthouse Forte who were so thorough in their health and safety training that I still remember it now even though it was years ago.
NSD today. The HT and I were going to go for a drive and possibly a coffee but the weather was so horrible that we stayed in. I spent the afternoon sorting my bedroom out which hadn't quite recovered from the Christmas influx. Everything has been put away properly and the pile of books from the other side of my bed has also been put away.
I made an overpayment of £17.48 to my debt to make it a round number. I will pay more off later this month once pension has been paid.2 -
@CRANKY40, When we were debt-busting, I used to find it really satisfying paying off any odd random little amount I could throughout the month. I used to like seeing the total get below the 'next' round number on its way down, even if it was just by a penny! I think it's the motivation of a debt getting under a round number. Purely psychological, I'm sure, but once I'd decided our debt was going to be vanquished, I was happy to employ any motivational technique going! I'm trying to do a similar thing with savings, but it doesn't seem to have been working quite as well in the run up to Christmas. This is something I intend to refocus on this year.

My friend got hers replaced in a terrace house - did you Google government boiler grants ? It brings up loads of companies that do it. I’d keep checking as the criteria does change - we qualified then we didn’t then we did so grabbed it in this window.Sealed pot challenge 822

Good afternoon all,
I've just been up a ladder sealing the shed roof with something nasty out of a tin because there was a slight leak. I checked the weather guess before I started and it said no rain until Sunday. I'll give you three guesses what the weather is doing now...... This summer is going to be like a game of "Beat the weather guess" because the shed and the fences need painting in the back.
NSD today - I've had a piece of cake but the HT paid for it, yay. So far this week I have paid another £200 off my debt and put £200 into the emergency/boiler fund. That'll probably be all now for the rest of the month.
I made lunch for best friend yesterday and then we sewed a few seeds. Some lettuce which should grow ok indoors - I don't have a greenhouse but I do have south facing windowsills. We also planted some tomato seeds and some basil and chives. Every time I say basil I hear Sybil Fawlty shouting "Basil" in my head 😂
Just one for lunch today (me) and two of us for dinner (yay).
Take care all of you 😊4
