Has anyone ever applied to change their house number from 13 to 12A etc?

I bought my bungalow in March, No 13,and my 89 year old Dad said it was an unlucky number and I should change it.  I know the Chinese view 4 as unlucky because the word sounds like 'death', but I've never been superstitious.

But now I've found dry rot, severe condensation, and other small problems, culminating with the extension roof flying off in Storm Arwen on Friday night, I'm wondering if my Dad is right?

  • I should have said it was a resin flat roof - vendor told me it was only a few years old, I felt happy I didn't have to do anything about it for a few years.

Storms cause damage. If you've insurance then the matter will be dealt with at no cost to yourself.

The insurance will pay for the roof but not the dry rot.

This is even embodied in some serious situations such as airline seat rows and floors in tall buildings - pretty bizarre really.
