So to follow this up, we managed to fairly successfully stick to lists this year - there were far less presents and they almost all were what people specifically asked for. I overheard my bf’s mum saying how nice it was that everyone got just what they wanted and there wasn’t too much stuff
so my years of Scrooge-ing are finally paying off!
I did receive a surprise gigantic cheesecake through the post from my brother but I’ll let him off as that was a birthday present and I can keep it in the freezer until the moment calls for it!1
