well done on clearing the credit card.
I've been reading a blog from the humble penny where there is a 52 week financial programme (that makes it sound very formal whereas it's more motivational). I thought you might find it interesting too.5 -
Thanks MF - I agree my original one was much better. I will continue to see if I can find one nearer home. The one I preferred was close to 80 miles away compared to last night's closer to 25 miles. I only have enough £ in my budget to go occasionally anyway. Thanks Blackcats. I'll look into that. I think I may have seen them on Utube too in the past.
I've dug out my gold - but it doesn't appear to weigh much so may hold on to it for now. Most of it is 9ct rather than better too. I might be better selling as an item rather than for scrap but don't have the energy for that.
I've renewed and reworded the listings on some of my paintings on FB. Still need to do the £tsy thing. I've listed 5 things that were lying around the house - some still boxed on FB to see if they sell. Really hope they do. Could do with a lift!! I looked in my garage earlier - again - it's an obstacle course - but behind the obstacles there are empty shelves...Have to laugh at myself...
I also went and looked in DS's room. DD has a part started charity bag - but she sometimes sell on Vinted so will need to ask her if it can actually go. Also found a part started bag of DS's. There are also some empty crates. A plastic basket of a style I like - so will wipe and reuse. Lots of empty space in his cupboards. I'm going to put some of the stuff from the loft into his wardrobe for now and that will then free up some space in other rooms and make it easier to deal with what's left. If I can empty my spare room a bit - I can then put my FB desk up there for now - rather than it staring accusingly at me asking why I haven't done anything with it yet!
I extended the table in the kitchen a while ago - and my cleaner slid my plastic drawers and boxes of art supplies under the extended bits. That could be a halfway house for now. It would allow DD and I to occasionally eat at the table while still giving easy access to create art.
I considered going outside but it's really cold here today and I just don't fancy it. DD has gone out anyway so I have the house back to myself for a bit. May make myself go out tomorrow instead although I doubt it will be any warmer then either.
On my extremely long to do list - I need to remember to set up online access to one of my new cards. Not done that yet or changed the PIN to one I can remember. Definitely need to do that. I also want to chase the promised £40 gift card as it hasn't yet arrived which is disappointing.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just sold one of my items for £10 which makes me happy. I have bid on some wire storage for £15 - so at least it paid for most of it. I will get organised!! One step at a time. I'm hoping it might just fit in my airing cupboard. If it does - it would free up an 8 cube unit for use in my spare room so boxes weren't piled on top of each other... Otherwise I'll use in the garage. Storage is always helpful. I have some B3st@ storage I plan to list at some point too (as part of mission furniture change out...).Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well done on clearing the card and the sale!
I've had several dreams recently about flying or being late to catch flights. I've not flown for about 15 years or more! I've no idea what they mean, but I'd love to travel again some day (sustainably)."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I came back to catch up as I said I would a few days ago and saw your abridged version - thanks!
Even summarised, that's a VERY busy few months! You sound really purposeful and energised with lots of exciting plans

Thanks Beanie. It looks like I've sold a second item for £12 to a friend on FB. Not sure when they are coming for it though.ohdearhowdidthathappen said:I came back to catch up as I said I would a few days ago and saw your abridged version - thanks!Even summarised, that's a VERY busy few months! I picked up the metal storage unit with open baskets - they will still be useful - but they are 1cm too wide to fit where I wanted... I suspected they would be as I had measured but thought it was worth a punt. There will be other places they can go. I've manhandled an 8 cube unit out of the airing cupboard and into my spare room inside another cupboard. I'm trying to fit all the photos and memorabilia into that unit - so that they don't keep 'catching me out' in other rooms. I can then literally close the door on them until I'm ready to sift through them. It's a start. They have a place.
I've unboxed some kids books I've been keeping - so I can see them and remember I have them. Over time - I can then decide whether I want to let any of them go.
Tomorrow I will rescue an 8 cube unit from a shed at the bottom of the garden and put it in the airing cupboard with DD's help. It's got some water damage but hopefully it will be good enough. I want to rescue it before it's completely past it. I've already started culling some of what was in the airing cupboards - starting with 2 cushions and a quilt cover fit only for the bin. I'm keeping a dressing gown that was DS's. It's supersoft and bigger than mine. I'm planning to ruthlessly go through the rest. Now I know I am a visual organiser - I understand why I forget the stuff is there. The main stuff I use I wash, dry and hang on the back of my ensuite or put straight back on the bed. I only go looking for stuff if there are guests or emergencies. Perhaps I need to put the labels outside on the door - rather than inside on the shelves.
I feel like my organisation is slowly improving. I'm remembering to hang my coat up. I may start using the coat cupboard to hang my hoodies too as it makes more sense for them to be close to the door. I'm filing paper more quickly in my brass magazine rack. I found a pretty labelled concertina file I could potentially use for any longer term papers I want to keep. I'm still bringing stuff down that now has homes and putting it away. It is working. Very slowly but still - progress.

Hi SC
Agree with beanie you should be proud of your progressDefinitely celebrate the wins
and great on things selling too.
I have noticed, similar to you, now i've organised / tidied a couple of small places i now feel able to tackle other areas because i have now made a home for certain items it is easier to tidy anything i find in that category away. eg - all the soap we have now has a home so when i tackle a bag of various things it is easier to move any soap etc away as it now has a designated home which is big enough.
Have you found any tips on too many clothes? especially when, like me, you're bigger than you were and have definite plans to shed the excess weight and do love the clothes you used to fit into? This is a major untidy area for me as there are more items than space (house is tiny and wardrobe really unsuitable).
Sorry your glass art class wasn't as good as hoped - but great you gave it a try x1st May 2025
