Could you post a photo of the meter doors and see if anyone has any suggestions?
Holiday looks amazing, so peaceful being out in the countryside and small, traditional towns.3 -
That's a shame about the meter box savingholmes. The door on one of our new ones broke as well not long after we moved in - to be honest it wasn't a great fit and then it came loose in the wind and the banging broke part of the hinge. We've managed to put it back on and it works again - not sure how as the metal pin fell out. DH stuck some tape on to start with though and that did work but I wanted to try and fix it properly so took it off. I'm not sure how long it would have stayed on for but it was really difficult to get off and there's still some stuck on the outside of the box now - its called gorilla glue cloth tape suitable for inside and out. https://groceries.asda.com/product/glues-tapes-adhesives/gorilla-cloth-tape/1000084410874?&cmpid=ppc-_-ghs-_--_-google-_--_-dskwid-s92700059046120673_dc&s_kwcid=AL!11432!3!482369556466!!!g!829856293177!&ds_rl=1254319&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8vLDo_C_-gIVhbTtCh3adgYyEAQYASABEgJW-fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds"Think of many things, do one"

The tape sounds great. I will investigate that.
DD and I took an oil radiator over to the sis that moved house recently and entertained the kids for a while. Their builders start Monday but they have stripped out wallpaper, built in cupboards and masonry fireplaces in preparation. They have also worked hard cut back plants that were covering flags and patio.
I was whacked when I came home.
This am I wrote a few hundred words for my book 2. Progress. I last did some in June and reading it today it has a nice flow.
I was partially inspired to restart by a motivational book and part by an interesting but not brilliantly written fiction book I read yesterday. I thought why is she doing better than me and the obvious answer was she's published more. I hope to carry on tomorrow...

Well done on the writing."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

Thanks @greent and @jgb1955 - I have a feeling that BIL in his attempts to help may have made one worse - that might need an overbox - but the other one can possibly be helped with the cheaper kit. I'll order one later and then try and fit it.
Thanks jwil - It feels exciting to be writing again. I just hope I can keep it up. I've written a little more today - and done some more polishing. It's all progress.
Taking DD to get a food shop shortly. Need to dress first!!
I want to cook a pork joint I got for a fiver and some chicken I defrosted later too.
Still need to do a final reckoning on my holiday. I'm due P1p tomorrow or the day after so hoping the energy payment comes with it. I can then pay it off my CC.
I may go into the office tomorrow - and have a pension chat another day. I have booked my booster too for the end of the week. Next week I can get a flu jab through work - although I might do via GP rather than have both jabs so close together.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oh no savingholmes, that's a shame. We've done some DIY recently and then had to make good as it just didn't work. It was quite satisfying to do the repairing but afterwards we were just back in the same position. I've realised its a risk with DIY. I'm thinking about insulating the garage door as the garage is fairly well insulated apart from the gaps in the metal door. There are some sort of foil blanket things for garage doors, then I watched a video today using insulation boards - but neither look very neat and its a new door so I'd like something that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Going to have a look around the diy stores and see if I can come up with something better myself."Think of many things, do one"

Thanks Sandy - I've ordered the £7 something version and will see if that works on the one that otherwise needs an over-box cover before I order it. I think with all DIY - you have to try things - and they won't all work but enough do to still be worth it.
Well I did a little more on my book...
I have however made garlic chicken and a separate pork joint casserole so happy with that. Should give me plenty of meals for this week. My veg peeler has gone missing. If I can find it I want to make roasties tomorrow.
Not used the heating today which was a result. I used it a couple of hours Friday and about 90 mins yesterday. I've put an extra blanket doubled over - on top of my elec blanket and worn my new jumper so that's helped. My house is currently 15 degrees which feels reasonable - it's when it goes down to the 12-14 range that I feel I ought to put the heating on at least a little.
I sold 2 things from the garage on FB for £20 that I listed a few weeks ago. It all helps.
I will make myself update my s/sht next - and then I'll know better where things are up to £ wise.
I've put the bins out - so when the handyman returns he'll have a nice empty bin to refill. I've put him in my budget at least monthly for the rest of the year but not told him that... Taking it one week at a time with gaps in between visits to help my budget!
I plan to have a shower tonight in the hope I'm quicker out the door in the morning. First day back is difficult enough but I'm going in...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I've updated my s/sht. I'm doing better than I thought as I had double counted a couple of things. So have sent £50 to the target CC tonight and will send another £130 in the morning. I will spend £30 on it tomorrow though so a bit swings and roundabouts but gives me points... I then hope to send a further £100 before payday.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
